I purchased this daybed and trundel, was a little disappointed because it isn't really black. More brown in it than what I was expecting by color discription. But with the exception of having to paint it the rest is all good. Went together a lot faster than expected. Made with heavy materials. I can see kids jumping and climbing on it and not leaving a mark. Have seen a lot of daybeds in this price range in land stores......they were just junk. This one will last a life time. To get the quality of materials that this bed is made of would have cost 4 or 5 times what I paid for it here. Even the hardware used to put it together is quality. All in all very happy with my purchase of daybed.

I love the style of this bed but the quality of the one I received is very poor. It is cracked in several places, the wood appears warped, the trundle doesn't fit properly, there is glue where there shouldn't be and paint is missing where it should be. I contacted the company and received a reply in an amazing 30 minutes. They have been in contact with me several times during the past week, and their willingness to work with me on this is impressive, but the issue is still not resolved. They have not yet found replacement parts for all the damaged sections. I am hopeful this can be resolved satisfactorily as I like the bed and am not looking forward to packing it up to return it.

UPDATE: I RECEIVED THE REPLACEMENT PARTS BUT THE LARGEST PIECE WAS DAMAGED AS WELL. AFTER HAVING TWO DAMAGED DELIVERIES, I WILL BE RETURNING THIS DAY BED. I HAVE CONTACTED THE COMPANY AND AM WAITING TO HEAR FROM THEM WITH REGARD TO THIS MATTER. OVERALL, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ORDERING THIS BED.

I purchased this exact daybed & trundle from a furniture store in Sacramento. I was actually able to see it in person before purchasing it. I love the fact that it has the trundle since I was looking for a bed w/ either a trundle or a bunkbed.

I will say that once we actually placed the mattress on the top there was about a 2-3 inch gap, either against the back or the front (depending on which way you push the mattress). We bought an inexpensive mattress so I'm not sure if that will make a difference. For the time being I just rolled a full size blanket and stuffed it in the back so my 3 year old doesn't get stuck while he's sleeping.

I currently use the tundle as additional storage & will eventually put the cheaper mattress down there when we are ready to upgrade.

Overall, I am pleased with this purchase, however, our product did not include all the necessary hardware (the pulls for the trundle were missing) . Besides that, the bed is very sturdy, a standard twin size bed fits perfectly and a box spring is NOT needed.

The shipment comes in three packages; there is enough material for it. It arrived well before the advertised dates. The shipment is through freight and we are called and given a reasonable window of time when we can expect delivery. Delivery was made in the stated window. It was advertised to be curbside service but the driver was nice enough to deliver them inside the house without us even asking for it. As instructed, I opened the packages and inspected everything. We had been lucky that there was no visible damage anywhere.

Assembly was a little slow for me as I worked in a somewhat tight space. The instructions are accurate, but purely pictorial. You need to check all the indicated information and form a mental image before starting. That helps immensely in having a smooth flow of the assembly operation. The parts fit into all pre-drilled holes perfectly and the allen wrench included in the package was sufficient for most of the assembly. The pieces have been prepared well: they fit together perfectly and once tightened well, the unit feels really solid. It is best to carefully choose its intended location before assembly as it is too big to fit through normal doors for moving from room to room and it is also quite heavy.

I followed the assembly instruction dutifully, but deviated while setting up the slats. I placed the slats as intended and reduced the number of screws I actually used to secure it to the base. You are supposed to use 6 screws, 2 at each end and 2 in the middle. I screwed only in the middle and left the ends unscrewed. There are stops to keep the slats from collapsing during normal use, and placing a mattress on top of the slats should be sufficient to avoid the slats popping out from their taut placement.

I absolutely love the bed!!! It is exactly what I was looking for. HOWEVER, the packaging was such a HUGE disappointment!!!! We opened the crate containing the backboard only to find that it was cracked, wood pieces were chipped in 4 different places where it was damaged and I actually had to buy a black wood marker to hide the broken areas.

We considered sending it back but then the thought of having to re-pack it and get a truck again to transport it back to UPS just was not an option.

I would like to HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you take better care in packaging your product. In this economy, no one has $500 to purchase a product only to have to hide the damaged areas.
