I have a Oceanic Biocube 29 that I was given. The pump was shot, so I went about finding a replacement pump. A bit of googling suggested the Maxijet 900 or 1200 were the right choices, so I went out and bought a Marineland Maxijet 1200. I didn't realize that the new Marineland Maxijet's were made in China and inferior quality as the old ones...it showed. The Marineland 1200 ran hot and vibrated like crazy.

I went in search for a replacement for my sanity and to reduce my tank temp. I found reference that Cobalt Aquatics had picked up the original Italian manufacturer of the Maxijets as a supplier and decided to give one a shot. I ordered this MJ900 and installed it today. Immediately the difference was clear, it is silent...not a peep. The tank temp is dropping, but that's to be expected when going from a 1200 class (20w) pump to a 900 class (8w).

It feels solid, it's silent and it doesn't heat up the tank. Hard to beat for only a loss of 65gph (230gph vs 294gph) and with the extra "budget" of heat I was able to add a Koralia Nano 425 for even MORE flow.

Made in Italy, Cobalt makes top line heaters and pumps. I use both on my tanks and they're well made and covered by a 3 year warranty. I used the old Maxijets long ago, unfortunately its now made in China and quality sucks. Cobalt is the way to go! I'm using the MJ900 as an upgrade to the stock Biocube 14 pump. Perfect water flow for this sized tank. It fits in chamber 3 at a slight angle and runs silent and cooler than the cheap stock pump. I added a Hydor Flo on the outlet and it adds great water movement throughout the Cube.

My stock pump that was in need of retirement so after researching I had decided to go with a "Maxi-Jet" and I am glad I spent the extra cash for the Italian-built Cobalt Aquatics pump. There are cheap Chinese knock-offs sold by Marineland that are far inferior to these ones. Superb fit and finish to all the pieces, would recommend.

**CONS:
THE MICRO ''BUBBLER'' TUBE HOLDER WILL NOT STAY MOUNTED TO POWERHEAD. RUN TUBE BEHIND BRACKET AND ALL GOOD. OR 1/2 LOOP UNDER POWER CORD.

**OVERALL PRODUCT REVIEW:
I RATE THIS POWERHEAD 105% AND WILL BUY NO OTHERS. (HAD 2 MARINLANDS AND BOTH FAILED IN 8 MONTHS)OTHER THAN THE SILLY BUBBLER TUBE HOLDER, NO ISSUES. THIS POWERHEAD IS DEFINITLY A MUST FOR THE AQUARIUM.

THE MJ 900 IS IN MY 180 GALLON TANK AND IS MORE THAN ENOUGH.

Got this to replace the marineland version of the same product. Works so much better, and quieter, and more reliable. No random rattling on this product, and no noticeable temp fluctuations. Def buy this
