5.0 out of 5 stars The cycling passion
Cobblestone Dreams, is pretty much what it sounds like. The main character ventures off to Europe with the passion for racing bicycles at the heart of the cycling world; on the cobblestone roads of Belgium. The story does not suger coat nor glorify the harsh reality of the cycling world into a heroic tale. Instead it focuses on a character transitioning to a new world and...

2.0 out of 5 stars Cobblestone Dreams - Editor's Nightmare
I am very shocked that a book this poorly written and edited could be published. The story line is a good thought. Young man pursues dreams instead of, kowtowing to parents plans for his life.

However, the author falls short on imagery and depth, relying on overstated and poorly worded symbolism. Apparently, the individual assigned to edit the book was...

Cobblestone Dreams, is pretty much what it sounds like. The story does not suger coat nor glorify the harsh reality of the cycling world into a heroic tale. 2.0 out of 5 stars Cobblestone Dreams - Editor's Nightmare, March 16, 2006
This review is from: Cobblestone Dreams (Paperback)
I am very shocked that a book this poorly written and edited could be published. The story line is a good thought. Young man pursues dreams instead of, kowtowing to parents plans for his life.

However, the author falls short on imagery and depth, relying on overstated and poorly worded symbolism. Apparently, the individual assigned to edit the book was unable to show up that day or unable to read the book. I have only read 45 pages of 133 page book. In the course of reading 10 pages last night I found over 25 grammatical errors. Compound this with a writing style similar to a high school essay of why I like to ride my bike and it makes for a very painful read.

I am not in the habit of writing reviews, especially bad ones, but if there were an opportunity to get my money back I would take it. And this book was a Christmas gift.

I'll give it 2 stars for the subject matter and discription of the races. The editor should be fired and the author hopefully will spend a little more time developing ideas and reworking the story a few times before submitting another book.
