I just upgraded to the 9965 from the 9950. With the touch screen I have notices the screen display is not as bright and crisp as the older model 9950. Also with the sun coming in over the front of the car you can not read the screen at all, it gets washed out. You will need to rely on the voice and tone alerts. The screen should have been made with better shielding to block the sun out. The other reason I like the older model is that the 9950 had an electronic compass the new one you need to purchase the 9970 with the gps locator to get the compass. Really miss having the compass. Should not have been taken out. When you look at the screen you have a blank center where the compass used to be. Would recommend going back to the 9950 or purchase the xrs9945. Hope this helps everyone when considering purchasing the new touch screen cobra radar detector.

Detects signals in enough time to react, has a 4 or 5 bar signal strength so you know how close the signal is coming from, customized screen output, lots of features. I love the touch screen, much better than buttons all over the detector.

Purchased this dectector last year, it works fairly well. However, I also purchased the Aura GPS unit that attaches to the side. The updating software is a mess. It updated perfectly for a while, then suddenly my GPS unit wasn't registered. Tried to re-register was told I was already registered. Finally contacted a human at Cobra, tried to explain the problem, he requested serial numbers and my personal info. I sent him all requested info several times via email. Now he won't reply at all. Will never buy another Cobra product.

Excellent detector, you can customize to detect certain bands, laser types, and other alerts if it starts going crazy every second, I definetly suggets the GPS device for camera warning but I'm happy with the Radar/Laser. It has a long range, but be careful with lasers anyways, I do recommend this item it's really worth it!

I travel A LOT by car - mostly on Interstates and this radar detector is great to keep me from getting a ticket. I used to have a regular version of Cobra radar detector for 2 years and I loved it, but this year, I decided to upgrade. I appreciate the added features such as Photo Trap alerts, etc. that come in handy when driving in a city...Cobra detectors last forever...I called Cobra customer service to order AURA. They were very helpful and quick to send me the additional hardware I needed for my radar detector.

I bought this because I wanted a radar detector, but it just looks so cool on the dash with it's OLED touch display, which is quite colorful, and useful. Yoo can push a button and check your available voltage at any time. Of course you can dim the display if you want, and it talks to you too. It can detect every kind of device in use, 15 bands, and if you get the add on GPS, it will also detect those speed sensing cameras and red light cameras. I'm thinking about that. Anyway, cool looking, functional, fun, I think it's a good value through Amazon.

I got this item recently and am surprised at the range on this little guy, i have owned other radar detectors as well as high priced ones, but for the price on this 9965 and the way it operated, i would recommend this to anyone who is a lil heavy on the gas pedal! I rate this item 5 stars and more if i could

I've had this Radar for a couple of months now and I Love it! It always goes off, every cop I pass. It has Great distance in letting you know when your coming up on a trap and has worked every time.I Highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable radar detector.
