This is a very well designed Cobra 14 band radar/laser detector. It has multiple functions of which can be turned on or off.
Some earlier reviews remarked that it is too sensitive, Thats not true, reading the instructions is a must for this detector as it is not just a basic plug and play.
Yes you can just plug it in but you have the option of adjusting it for your driving conditions.
The intelimute shuts the detector off when the engine rpms fall below a certain level.
This eliminates a constant warning while you are sitting still.
The voice feature is nice. It can be turned off or on.
I found it odd that it begins with a female voice saying " system ready" and afterwards the warnings are male voices.
I would not recommend this as a first detector because it's features would overwhelm a novice.
But for the seasoned detector user, this is a great detector to have.
It has a built in memory that will store any settings you make to the detector when the power is turned off,
I have owned several detectors in the past both cobra and whisper and I am very pleased with this model.

This was my first ever purchase off amazon and I couldn't have done better than to get this radar detector. Its affordable and it works and does everything it says it does. I drive back and forth from home and work every day and it's fun to hear it go off and see a cop. its like an I SPY game but with cops and you get to cheat.

It has never given off a false alarm. And works well even with my car(an older model).

It is money well spent and saves you money in the long run from tickets.

I actually purchased the Cobra XRS 9445 for my wife. she loves it its very sensitive when it comes to any detection or radar beam being picked up In my area the police has gone while in cutting down on seat belts, cell phones and speeders. It lets her know way in advance who is gunning for her if when goes over the speed limit. Also I brought this item at a real bargain. I am hoping to get one for myself.

If this device would alert you in advance of radar in the area it would be a good purchase. There is very little warning when the radar is facing, at the side or behind you with this unit. I read the manual, have the appropriate settings in place, correct placement in the car for total view of signal and the sensitivity for true alerts is ridiculously low! I had the earlier model cobra of this save version and it was a great unit. This one is going in the garbage.

Compared to my previous Cobra radar detector, this model is much worse. A lot of time I can already visually see the police car when the alert first sounded. Sometimes they don't even react at all.....Should've gotten better model even with higher price.......

Have just recently completed a 2,000 miles round trip from the Seattle area to Central California and feel that the Cobra XRS 9445 picked up every Radar and/or Lazer signal that it should have. It was extra helpful in the mountains in the Lake Shasta area, where there are radar speed warning signs so that you will be extra aware of sharp curves and to reduce your speed. The simple ease of operation has been to the degree that even my wife, who does not do well with working with products of this type, has been pleased with the one I installed in her BMW. I would buy the same unit again.

A nice unit. Very sensitive. While it does react to something in traffic signals, it DEFINATELY reacts to police radar!! The Voice feature cuts through clutter and lets you know something is going on. It has saved me a number of times already; not from downright SPEEDING but from those traps where you are doing 50 in a politically marked 30MPH zone and it's GIVE SOME TICKETS day.

I can't say enough about this little unit. It's cheap enough where if you want a unit that's incredibly good but you just want to plug it in and go: it's great! This one you can also tailor 50 ways from Sunday too, which is incredibly powerful for more advanced units.

One thing that surprised me, it also detects trains nearby! I had no idea about this until the alarm went off and sure enough, there was a train approaching. It has all the bells and whistles you will EVER need. I'm very very happy with it!

Owned for about 1 year . Overall I am happy with Product its paid for itself many times. I use them more to remind me to pay attention not to speed. There are false warnings 35% of the time.

I recently purchased this Cobra XRS9445. For the price it is an excellent product. I typically don't speed, but I do want to know where the radar is. After searching around the internet for information, I found this one to be well worth the price in comparison to so many others well over $200. The intellimute and Intellimute Pro functions are something interesting to play with and in time, as I get used to working with it and understanding how I will use it, I can see that they may be very useful. Controls are easy to use and understand. The display is large enough to see clearly and interpret, and with voice alerts, its just that much more easy to understand without taking your eyes off the road. No more deciphering a tone to figure out what type of radar just hit you. This was purchased to replace an old Bell 300i (ancient). In comparison, this has very few false warnings. So far, very impressed.
