Product Description

Product Description

High quality cobra radar, 360 degrees, 6 bands

Amazon.com

The ESD 7100 is an affordable radar/laser detector with reliable and proven performance. This 9-band unit detects all radar frequencies and laser signals currently used in United States and Canada. It comes with the UltraBright Data Display and much more.

An affordable 9-band detector with proven performance.

Band identification icons let you know which band is detected.

Includes suction bracket for easy windshield mounting.

Nine-Band Protection
The ESD 7100 provides detection and separate alerts for radar signals (X, K and Ka bands, with signal strength indicated), laser, VG-2, and detector-detector signals.

LaserEye Technology
Cobra's LaserEye provides 360-degree detection of laser signals.

VG-2 Undetectable
Provides complete immunity to VG-2 radar detector-detectors, making your device "invisible" but still alerting you to their use.

Instant-On Ready
Detects radar guns with "instant-on" (very fast) speed monitoring capabilities, thanks to ultra-sensitive K-band detection.

Tone Alerts
A distinctly different Alert tone is used for each type of signal detected (including separate tones for each laser signal). For X, K and Ka bandradar signals, the tones will repeat faster as you approach the signal source. The repeat rate of the tones gives you useful information about the signal detected.

UltraBright Data Display
Provides easy recognition of band detected by use of band identification icons.

City/Highway Modes
Allows the user to select operating mode, reducing the frequency of falsing in densely polulated urban areas.

Safety Alert
Warns drivers of the presence and/or approaching emergency vehicles, railroad crossing, and road hazard locations equipped with Cobra's exclusive Safety Alert transmitters.

Manual Mute Or Auto Mute
Set the Auto Mute function to automatically mute alert tones after initial warning, to avoid annoyance.

Simple Mounting
The ESD 7100 mounts easily on your windshield or dashboard with the included suction mount, and is powered via your vehicle's cigarette lighter adapter.

What's in the Box
ESD 7100 Detector Unit, Straight 12V DC Power Cord, Windshield Mounting Bracket with suction cups, Instruction manual

Customer Questions & Answers

Customer Reviews

It does get false signals from stores automatic door openers, but a particular alert goes off to store automatic door openers.
Andre C. Santana
It picks up the cop after you already see him or literally 1 second before he comes around the corner- not giving you enough time to even slow down.
Jeff
If you want serious enlightenment about the radar units running in your vicinity, spend the money for a better quality detector.

I purchased two of these inexpensive radar detectors for my wife and kid's cars, mostly to keep them from getting tagged on a photo radar ticket for $80. The Cobra works pretty well with a couple of glaring problems. Mainly, the L or Laser alert falses all of the time and, seemingly, for no reason. The alarm will sound in strange places like parking lots, side streets, and alleys. I'm pretty sure there's no Laser-sighted radar being used in my alley. Each of the bands has a different sounding alarm, which is good, except they all sound like a something from a 1980's arcade game. I've compared the performance of the Cobra to my Escort Solo and the Cobra is definitely less sensitive. My Escort picked up a photo radar van from more than a half a mile away, while the Cobra was nearly in sight of the van. Still, the alarm was early enough to slow down before getting a ticket. Of course, the best thing about the Cobra is the price. It's an amazing value for a relatively sophisticated detector. If all you're looking for is a little extra help spotting the occassional speed trap, then the Cobra will get the job done, as long as you're aware of the limitations. Serious speeding should be left to the pricier Escorts, Valentines, and Beltronics.

When I bought this radar detector I was at first questioning it because it was the cheapest one and a few days went by where I seen no cop and I wasnt sure if it was working, until I was coming home from my girl friends house at around 1:30 in the morning and it started beeping, I slowed down and looked around and seen no lights and I thought I was the only one on the road then I started goin down a big hill and it stoped beeping then as I got back up the other side of the hill it started beeping again so I thought the thing was junk then the radar dector started going nuts and then I seen the cop sitting off to the side with all its lights off (which is allowed in the state of Indiana) and was happy that I had the radar detector, because I would of probably gotten a speeding ticket. I figured the radar detector picked up the cop about a mile before I seen him so all in all it was a great purchase and I am very pleased with it.

I have four vehicles that I am "accountable" for. With the latest addition of number four came my fourth Cobra and the latest technology with 9 bands. I like things simple and effective. This has the same mount, the same jack input and the basically the same simple functionality as the other three. It is a little more precise as it can pick up a signal a bit quicker than the three year old one I also have.
My thinking right or wrong:
They all work extremely well for my needs from a 911 to a Standard Company Issued Impala
The total of all four detectors was under $200.
Someone will think twice about breaking a window and stealing a $40 Price Brand Cobra given the risk for return on a resale is limited to 10 bux maybe??
I like the Cobra line of detectors!

I like it so far, it beeped sufficiently ahead of time before I actually saw the police car. There are some false alarms but that is to be expected in the city & is not a big deal. For $40, I must say I am quite satisfied with this product.

It gives an accurate reading every time. Volume adjustment in case I'm listening to music, and clear bright lights. :)

As for quality, this cheap little radar detector does get the job done. It does get false signals from stores automatic door openers, but a particular alert goes off to store automatic door openers. You can tell what is a false signal, and what is a cop.

Plus the more and more you drive around town, you will find where all the false signal spots are (not too many, unless your driving through a busy shop friendly area). And when the radar goes off in a spot it usually doesn't go off in, you will obviously know to slow down.

Also, this thing is very durable! If your concerned about the suction cups not staying put, trust me, they stay nice and firm on your windshield. Last week I got into a pretty serious car accident, the other driver was supposed to yield to me, but failed to do so, which resulted in me t-boning him at 54 MPH (needless to say both cars were totaled). My cobra radar detector, which was right on the front of my windshield, in plain sight, wasn't damaged WHATSOEVER.

Not even a scratch on the detector, the thing didn't even fall off of the windshield. Needless to say, now in my new car I have the same cobra on the front windshield.

Very durable and has saved me from at least 4 speeding tickets in the last 2 months. Great investment, It'll save you money in the long run.

alot of people complain that it doesn't pick up cops. Well it doesn't pick them up UNLESS there speed radar is ON! this product has been great and i have had no issues. it also have spotted many undercover cops where i avoid a ticket in plenty of time.

I bought this radar detector on black friday back in 2010 for about $30 and have been using it since. This is just a really simple radar detector, 9 bands, nothing fancy. Half of my driving is in the city and half on the highway. This radar detector has a highway and city mode. Honestly I don't see the difference between the two. They both seem to work the same. The X and the K/Ka alerts seem to go off all the time, especially in the city. In the Cobra user manual, it says that these two types of alerts are false alerts most of the time, which I agree with. Because they go off so often in the city, I stopped using this radar detector as often. I save it mostly for the highway.

I do remember an instance when the v/s alert started going off and there was an actual cop car right behind a hill. Also, the L alert went off twice and this was when there was a cop car directly in front of me on the side of the highway. The v/s and L alerts are the ones I pay the closest attention to. The X and K/Ka I ignore most of the time.

In general I think this is a pretty ok radar detector, however it can get pretty annoying with the X and K/ka alerts going off so often. I only paid around $30 for it so it doesn't bother me. In the future however I will most likely buy something better.
