Can't go wrong with Cobra, I had my last one for many years.

You can barely see any of the indicator lights because they are behind dark grey plastic --and it wasn't even a sunny day.

I have driven by 4 cop cars with the radar detector on and it didn't pick up any signal from them.

I wasn't too sure about this unit, especially considering the price. But after some "testing", it is truly worth every penny and more.

Pros:
This unit does pick up all the common (and to my knowledge, only) frequencies/bands used by police. It picks up the speed traps that tell you how fast you're going. My local PD uses laser, it picks it up. I've been on the highway and picked up a really strong Ka Band. Looked around, saw nothing and thought it was a false alarm. Sure enough, a little bit later, a unit sitting in the median. It had picked up the signal way before I was in view of the car. The buttons are responsive and it gives you tones to let you know you turned that feature on or off. Adjustable volume, I usually keep it at 9 or 10 (I usually listen to music and drive a loud car). Overall, very impressed.

Cons:
This does get a fair enough number of false hits. Every time I drive by a local bank, it alerts to X band. I generally disregard the X and K band, as most police are now using the Ka and Laser/Lidar systems. And false alerts are going to be an issue with every radar detector not equipped with GPS. Also the display is worse than useless if the sun is directly on it. But for the price, you cannot go wrong with this unit.

Random info:
I have it hardwired to turn on with the car. It's mounted on the dash with double stick tape, centered, that way it has a clear view of the front and back window, and i dont have to worry about the suction cups ever coming off the windshield.

I was a little bit worried about this product for the price but after using it for awhile I was shocked by how good it picks up police radars! Not a waste of money at all!!!

I bought this as a last minute decision to go on a 2000 mile trip down to Florida and South Carolina. Yes it does have some false alarms, but heck who cares. Me and wife loved hearing the sound and slamming on our brakes because we thought it was a cop. We kidding around saying "WOW were going to break even - we are going to need new brakes because every time we heard it beep.

I would recommend it to anyone. Also who ever say's the suction cup mount doesn't work. I mounted it for 2000 miles and it never moved.

I got this over a year ago, and since then, it has helped me a lot. For example, I'll be driving to class at night this thing alerts me of a cop a 1/2 mile away in either direction. There are times I cannot see them but this thing can, so I'm grateful for purchasing this. The only reason I gave it a four-star is sometimes it does not detect all police scanners. It does however track automatic doors and those speed camera that displays your speed out on the road. I leave it set on to city driving since majority of my driving is on the side streets.

Works great, I had about a half mile warning around some hills. As long as their radar is on it works well for the price.

I had bought and used Whistler XTR-130 for 3 weeks and started searching for another detector and came across this Cobra. Whistler had more false alerts than anything else, was not accurate, and failed more times than not alerting me until cops were sitting right next to me merely fifty feet away at 4-way stop signs. I want DETECTION, with the assumption being that I receive alerts BEFORE I see cops with my own eyes. That's the purpose of a detector in my book. Whistler failed, and would continue giving X band alerts even when I disabled it in City mode. The Cobra ESD7570 on the other hand is a far superior detector for a mere five bucks more, except for the LED display. The display is sorry, virtually invisible during the day and better, but not very brightly, visible at night, a definite design flaw that should've been corrected during manufacture. But I work and drive mostly at night, and have become familiar with the distinct sound of Ka alerts because it's been so accurate thus far, so it's not a deal breaker. The bright red Ka alert is acceptably visible during the day, which is my main concern around here. The Cobra thus far has good accuracy of detection, hardly a false alert to speak of, and alerting me of cops BEFORE I see them: up to more than a block away! Sufficient detection for me. I like the configurability, so that I can eliminate both X and K bands if need be. Cobra also saves your settings after you turn it off, unlike the Whistler. The VG2 and Spectre detections are pluses, with the latter being another advantage over the Whistler. My Cobra, while nothing too fancy, just plain works like a detector should, BEFORE you see the cops and giving you up to a half mile of reaction time. If not for the sorry LED display, it would get five stars.Read more ›

I own a cobra for a long time. I purchased this for my husband's car. Unfortunately the screen is very dim.

I got a ticket one day after purchasing this. It didn't ring once although I passed several cops. Guess you get what you pay for. Pay more and get a better one.
