Cobra Mr 45 fuse issue,
By
This review is from: Cobra MRF 45 Marine VHF Radio (Electronics)
As reported in a previous review the Cobra radio will (by design) blow fuses - that is, if the power leads are connected to the battery backwards. That is, the positive lead must connect to the positive power from the battery, etc. If the leads are connected reverse polarity,ie positive radio lead to negative battery post, a protective diode in the radio will short out and thereafter will continually blow fuses until the diode is replaced. Its a good radio, I have one on my boat used on Lake Ontario. Just dont hook it up backwards, and there then should be no fuse issues.
