Any one looking for a good radar detector, here it is. Of course I could have spent $500-1,000 on a better radar/laser detector or system, but who wants to do that?? It does it's job and everything I expected it to do! I traveled out of state during the holidays (holidays=many cops) and it saved my butt 3 times on the way there, and 2 times on the way back. It already has paid for itself and then some! Not to mention the two times it saved me this morning on my way to work! The only thing I was worried about when purchasing a detector was, would it give me enough time to slow down, the answer is YES. By the time I brake to the desired speed limit, I look around for a few seconds, then when I think it is a false alarm, there's the cop. Overall, great purchase and worth every cent!

This thing is awsome, i have had warnings long in advance to seeing a cop. This is handy fella.

I bought this radar detector after getting 2 speeding tickets less than a month apart and haven't had one since. This is a very good product for the price. Only problem I have with it, its not loud enough. I like to rock out in my truck and have been pulled while the detector is going nuts but I'm jamming out. Didn't get a ticket though. The bad reviews I read on here are from people that apparently think cops drive around running radar constantly. Thats not the case. The detector only responds if it "DETECTS" something. If the cop has their radar off and turns it on as your speeding around, don't blame the detector because you lost at the cat and mouse game.

I bought this item right before I had to drive 550 miles. Well worth the money spent. I was well aware of speed traps along the route. This radar detector leaves you plenty of time to react after the initial warning.

Range of detection is pretty good. Easy to install. No complicated programming involved.
Cons: Doesn't detect a police vehicle unless their radar is ON.

so here it goes, last week i bought an 02 dodge stratus r/t. it's red and very sporty. now, i have always been a fast driver, i'm not proud of that fact, but it is what it is. so, knowing that i have a RED, SPORTY car, i figured that the cops will probably target me. i decided it probably would be a good idea to buy a radar detector. i went up on this very site and saw all of the reviews of how this particular product is so wonderful and that you have plenty of time to slow down before you even see the cop. so, since this product had a 4 1/2 star review i decided to buy it.

flash forward in time. today was the first day that i got to use my brand new, expensive, radar detector! i mounted it on the dashboard of my car plugged it into the cigarette lighter and i was on my way. i got to work without a single warning. when work was done, i decided to take a more popular route to town. a route where there may be cops, to see if my new radar detector was worth all of that money. i wasn't driving crazy fast, just 10 mph over the speed limit. when suddenly, right before a long straightaway, i saw the front end of a state trooper. i immediately began to slow down, but it was too late, he had me. as i passed by the state trooper's vehicle, the flashy, expensive radar detector finally decided to go off! after i had already seen the cop, tried to slow down, and passed the said cop, does the detector finally go off. i now have a speeding ticket for $127.50!

the moral of the story ladies and gentleman is, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY, AND IT IS A WASTE OF TIME TO EVEN THINK ABOUT BUYING IT! IT DOES NOT WORK! PLEASE, I BEG OF YOU! DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON A PIECE OF GARBAGE!!!!

I have had this now for a month and have been very happy with it; having just moved to a state that takes their speeding very seriously it has allowed me to stay under the radar, so to speak. This is my second Cobra Radar detector and have been very happy with it; my last one I had for over 7 years and was still working fine but wanted to update without a lot of cost and the XRS-9430 fit the bill.

Excellent radar detector - minumal false alarms, and accurate estimates of radar strenght (as far as I can tell). I'm wondering what additional functionality the more expensive Cobra detectors posess. It seems you pay for items like voice warnings and a compass, and not anything substantive that helps keep you from getting in to hot water.

I'd have given this model 5* except for one flaw - the silver colored pieces on the top of the detector reflect off the windscreen. This can be quite intrusive when the sun is low in the sky. Otherwise, I can't find fault with this model.

I have now had this detector for three months. I purchased it because I have to go through a speed trap (speed unposted and the legal speed is only 25) to get to work. In that time I have encountered about twelve times there was a cop there with a radar/ laser - the Cobra 9430 detected TWO of those times. The only thing it seems to detect are automatic doors at stores, which it is very good at. I strongly suggest you purchase a different detector!
