My son characterized outdoor fire pits as woks, balls, or crockpots. I would add to that big, clunky, hard-to-move unattractive chimineas. This is a wok type. The bowl is a lovely beaten copper. Even with a fire burning in it, the rim is not too hot to touch, so you don't have to worry about little kids touching it and burning themselves. With this type of fire pit, the heat dissipates in all directions and cools from the bottom, so it is not as warm as a camp fire. But on your patio, you don't want it to be. It is portable enough to take along to other places. Easy to clean. I am crazy about it.

Pros:
Once assembled the bowl and legs are very sturdy. The bowl handles a decent fire. It has a simple, clean design. The bowl isn't fixed to the legs so it can be easily removed to empty ashes. The bowl is adequately deep. Assembly is straight forward.

Cons:
The legs aren't machined well meaning it might take some muscle to get the base assembled square. The bowl has a poorly applied copper finish. It looks like thick paint put on with a cheap brush. I missed the word "finish" and thought I was getting a copper bowl. Bummer. The cover is thin, doesn't fit flush with the bowl and bends easily. The bowl and cover rust at the first sign of humidity.

Great size for traveling. We brought this on our Cape Cod vacation. We've always liked sitting outside in the evenings but after sunset we would have to move inside. This summer we were able to keep the evenings going by using the fire pit at night. Very atmospheric and the copper bowl is so beautiful.
Unexpected bonus - kept the bugs away!!!

I bought this fire pit about 5 months ago and it's awesome. It's very stable and weather resistant. I left it out with no cover and just flipped the bowl over and it's held up really well.

UPDATE Had for over a year, held up fairly good. It does rust if not covered and left in rain, but that seems like a normal happening, overall good buy.

It's not the best quality,but for $50 it's worth it. I would not pay almost $150 for this.

The fire pit is sturdy, easy to assemble and looked very nice. After a few weeks, the screen rusted, then the cover broke and the bowl itself started rusting after about 2 months. I will continue to use this fire pit as it's still functional, but it has completely lost it's good looks. For having spent a Benjamin and a half I would have expected better quality. Overall disappointing.

My wife and I had our house remodeled because of Hurricane Ike and now we have a very nice covered patio to sit and relax. We really wanted a fire pit of some sort. I came across several and this one really appealed to us. It was shipped and received right on schedule and the price was very reasonable. We have only used it a couple of times so far, but we are very happy with it. The only thing I have noticed is that when you put the cover over it (cover came with it) to protect it from the elements a great deal of moisture builds up in the bowl. If you have any ashes in there it's a real mess. But we do live in a very humid area. It also did not sit level after assembly. One more thing, I like how the rim does not get that hot. Nice if you have small children or animals. For the price, I would recommend this.

The product arrived in good condition, thanks to excellent packaging. UPS was obviously practicing for the World Cup with this package. Assembly was a breeze. The fire bowl looks great, but the copper finish discolors once you use it. I expected that; so it is OK with me. I would recommend this to others.

We have had a copper fire pit for over 5 years. After using it so long it has gotten pretty beat up. I purchased this one for my husband for Christmas and am very happy with the quality. It was difficult to tell online, but it is a bit smaller than my original. After using it a few times, we don't even notice that anymore. One plus to this style is that you can remove the pit from the base to dump the coals.

I am using this fire bowl inside a stone fire ring. I did not use the legs that came with the bowl. It fits perfectly and looks even better. I had a hard time finding what I needed, but this fire bowl was perfect. It arrived on time and was the right price.
