This product is exactly as it's described. Amazon recommends the Veranda canvas cover and I agree it's MUCH better quality than the one that ships with it. The pit itself is nice and deep & sturdy so there is plenty of room for logs without the worry of it tipping over. The copper is a bit thinner than I expected but I'm not sure YET if that matters. Some other reviews mentioned that the mesh cover melts so I've been too chicken to put it on as the fire is blazing. You can't make a decent s'more with the cover on anyway :)

I purchased the Cobraco Sh101 Hand Hammered Copper Fire Pit with Screen (spark arrestor) 11 months ago. As can be expected of a screen that's exposed to high heat consistantly it's now rusted through and has big holes in it which renders it dangerous to leave unattended. I contacted the company directly and was told that since I didn't keep my proof of purchase they would not replace it. I completely understand this and offered to buy a replacement from them, but I was told that they don't sell them separately so my only option is to go spend another $270 for a whole new set.

I think the fact that they won't allow me to purchase a replacement part separately is a very unfriendly policy for their customers. I mean really, who keeps receipts from every purchase you make... particularly ones that have no moving parts?

The copper bowl itself has held up well...but if you decide to purchase this item make sure you keep your receipt because you'll need it to get your screen replaced within the first year!

We've had this fire basin for a few months now and love it. There appears to be good air circulation, so the fires burn hot (i.e. good brightness and not too much smoke, although still smoke). The copper also turns a pretty color with burning, but that's true of all copper. I also really like the cover, and have put it on several of our larger and more unwieldy fires with no detrimental effect, as far as I can tell.

I am delighted with this product. It is sturdy and well made. The screen could fit a bit better. I would still recommend it. Nothing like sitting around a fire pit on a crisp New England night.

Although somewhat worried about other reviews mentioning packaging and shipping issues, we received our fire bowl/pit in excellent condition. The lid fit is not as fatal as stated in other reviews, specially when you consider that the bowl is hand hammered, there is no "machine" or "mechanical" precision to make dimensions exact to that level of accuracy. We love the depth of this particular fire pit. We use this pit to teach our boys fire starting skills without the use of liquid fuels and the dimensions of this pit is ideal for such a solution. Kudos to other folks who wrote that they laid down a sand bag's measure at the bottom of their pit to prevent the heat to emanate down toward their patio stones. This has worked out quite well. Again, great looking pit, beautiful color and depth. Extremely happy with choice of fire pits.

we absolutely love the depth of this firepit and wouldn't trade it for any other. however, the previous reviewers are right about the screen lid not being a perfect fit and i also feel that at this price, it should come with a poker. we have ours on a wood deck and placed a bag of sand in the bottom before using to help protect the bottom and protect our deck. so far so good. thank you cobraco for the beautiful ambience and quality time you've inspired in our backyard.

holds a good fire for good heat! not so happy with the change of copper coloration after a week of use, yes copper changes but this is uneven, not aesthetically pleasing. It should have legs that lift the pot up higher. This sits too low to be on a wood deck, we placed stone underneath to protect the wood.

Very disappointed in the packaging and condition of the screen for the firepit when it arrived. Parts are bent in screen has holes.

This is a great fire pit; however, it is very hot! I didn't realize how much heat copper transfers. The only thing I don't like about this fire pit is it sits a little low to the ground (only about 2-3 inches from ground to bottom of pit). If you are using on a deck, you must have a firePROOF deck mat. Don't bother with a fire-RESISTANT one. Our first fire in this pit melted the asbestos mat we had underneath it and literally started burning the deck! Overall, great product and produces lots of heat. No more nights of being cold on the deck.

the fire pit looked nice,but for one it didnt come with a cover as promised, secondly, the top grate that covers the fire pit rusted in spots after one night outside with no rain, the grate is cheaply made, and the copper fire pit bowl is thin copper. it isnt worth the 275.00.....
