Coby BP-420 Universal Battery Pack for Portable DVD Players

We were on a 7 hour flight to Hawaii and needed to keep a 4 year old entertained. I had a few year old Mintek portable DVD player and the battery for it would barely lasts an hour. This BP-420 worked perfectly ran for over three hours and still had battery life. Definitely worth the money.

I'm using this with a Coby DVD player on long plane rides with my kids. It works great for the Coby DVD player (which has a pretty short battery life).

It comes with lots of wires and adapters so I'm betting it can power other electronics but I haven't tried it with any other electronics yet.

4-stars instead of 5 because it seems a bit pricey but I guess you get what you pay for.

I had to fly to Chicago with my 2 1/2 year old daughter and I knew that I wanted to keep her occupied, not only on the plane, but in the car, at the hotel, at the reception, etc.

I borrowed a personal dvd player from a friend since our car player had no battery, but I got this battery as a back-up since I knew that most players with a battery only run up to 2 hours. I charged the battery as soon as I got it and was really pleased with the indicator light that glows red while charging and glows green as soon as the unit is totally charged. After that, all you have to do is push the button and the indicator lights (up to 4) will let you know approximately how much battery power you have available.

You do have to figure out which adapter you need to use for a particular dvd player, and there is a little cable (about 6 inches) that attaches the battery to the player, but there are about 5 different adapters, so I believe that this unit should fit just about any portable player.

Of course as soon as the captain let us know we could use electronic devices on the plane, the portable player told me that the battery was low. I immediately hooked up the Coby unit and played the dvd player for over an hour until we landed, and when I pushed the button to check available power, still had 3 out of 4 green lights, or about 75% power. I used that battery all weekend and only charged it the night before we left. On the plane ride home, my daughter watched over 2 hours of t.v., and I still had battery power left.

It's an awesome product and I'm so glad I had it!

i wrote this review last month already. i got it quick. but it only lasts for 3 and half hours but im happy

I use this battery for a portable dvd I bought in the UK. The battery says 9V, but works with 12V.
I use it for travels, so far I've been able to watch 2 dvd movies (+ 4 hours) before i recharge it again. I don't know how many hours it lasts, since it has never run out of energy with me.
Great buy. Highly recommended.

When I had to take an international flight with my 18 month old son, this was my life-saver. The only way I could keep him engaged was by letting him watch his favorite Doras, Diegos, Sponge-bobs and Max-Rubys. This battery pack gave me enough juice to last most of the flight time and fared great in spite of the occasional drops. It charged fairly quickly for the pack this size and didn't discharge even when it was idle for couple of days

I bought 2 of these batteries. I used these for Coby TFDVD7008 (7") and Panasonic DVD-LS5 (5"). each of these last almost 7 hours of continuous playing. Well, it may last shorter for larger screen DVD. But for it's cost (I paid $20.23/each), you can not find any better deals...

We bought this for a trip cross country with a toddler and boy was it worth every penny!

We were very pleased with the project. It is an ingenious product that everyone should have.

I bought an unbranded version of this exact same unit and before I had used it even 10 times it stopped holding a charge, and so became useless to me. I used it intermittently enough that it was outside its warranty before it stopped taking a charge.
