I would strongly recommend this small b/w TV to anyone concerned with price and good quality. Even though the FEDEX guy threw the box onto my balcony (hitting the cement floor), it was intact when I opened it ... I heard the bang, not the doorbell. I was pleasantly surprised at being able to get channels with the existing antenna, but I did... very nice, clear picture and excellent sound. Mind you, it's not a stereo for parties! I will now have a little more peace of mind when the electric goes out during the normal stormy season, hurricane season. I spent three days with only a radio when we lost power due to hurricane Katrina. It was frightening to hear --but not see-- what was going on, and there was NO way I was going to stick my head out the door to see the storm while it was going on outside. That is what I bought it for, peace of mind; that, and to have something to do while I'm sitting in my car waiting for my classes to begin whenever I arrive at the campus early.

It would be hard to find a usable TV cheaper. I bought 2 of these along with 2 CyberHome CH-DVD 300S mini DVD players (about $35 each) to use for my video show I do outdoors & in clubs. Just as a DJ needs headphones to cue up the song, a VJ needs monitors to cue-up & find the spot on the DVD to play on the big screen (two 26-foot wide screens).
Unlike many portables, these do have A/V jacks in the back to plug equipment into. So I send the RCA jack from the players to the TVs, then use the component or s-video jacks to send the video to a switch box going to the DLP projectors. Oh, I have color LCD portables... just the type of thing someone will walk off with if your back is turned or break banging around on the road... at $199 each! Also, unlike LCD TVs, I can see the picture clearly when I'm off on an angle from the front of the TV. I can fit the 2 players, 1 projector, the 2 TVs, cords, & DVDs in 1 backpack! They've been running 6 hours a night, 4 nights a week in extremely hot & cold conditions. They've been upacked, banged around, & repacked tight 4 nights a week. They still work fine. On movie night, I've either seen the movie or it bores me to death. In my projection booth I can tune in the local TV & radio stations during the movie to pass the time. Reception is acceptable but worse than a $200 unit. The TVs are sensitive to RFI & not very good with RF image rejection, except for AM... which is average. Otherwise, for the price I would have given it 5 stars. The tuning indicator is almost impossible to see unless the light & you are on a perfect & precise angle. Someday I'll take it apart & paint the tuning indicator white or silver. The tuning knob is really hard to turn. Turning it so hard, sometimes one would skip right over the station as it jumbs from the force needed to turn it. I haven't used batteries in it. I always used AC adapters. I use LCD TVs for running on batteries, the batteries will last much longer. All CRT TVs will use up batteries real fast... even high capcity batteries.

This is an excellent buy for the price. I can find nothing wrong except when I use the tuning dial, I have to hold the tv because the tuner is hard to turn and the tv slides to the left. Of course, if you don't mind your set sliding to the left, this will not be a problem for you.

Great TV for work,

This is a great buy. It has some extras that similar ones do not. The earphones are included and are stereo instead of mono (like others).

I bought this little TV primarily to monitor the signal
strength of our cable infracstructure where I work. It is very convenient to carry such a portable unit. The picture is excellent (when the signal is strong), but the best is the size. I highly recommend this unit, which can be used with either the aerial antenna or with a cable antenna.

If I could rate it a "0" I would...but 1 is the lowest choice!,

I know that you can't expect much for under $20....and it was too good to be true. First, the dials are hard to use....then the sound was terruble and the picture quality was poor...and on and on. I guess if you're in a 3rd world country , this would be a good buy....but my advice is, "Don't even consider this set !" I sent it back as quickly as I could and felt stupid for even thinking that I could get a decent set with an AM-FM radio for this price.

I like it. It's got poor resolution, it's hard to get the reception in, and if you're too close to it while it's on, the reception goes out, but it only cost 16 dollars, so I find it hard to complain.

The absolute best thing about this TV is the price. The absolute worst thing is its functionality. Reception is our area is okay, but there are many poorly designed features: 1. The knobs for volume and channel changing are almost impossible to turn. They're shaped like the half of a little golf ball with a sight indention for a thumb notch. If I were an older person or had arthritis, it'd be totally impossible to use. 2. The tuner indicator is difficult to read so it's hard to tell if you're on the right channel. Half the time you're guessing based on the program that's on. 3. The volume will suddenly jump to its maximum level and you'll have to thump the unit to bring it back to normal. 4. The antenna snapped off almost immediately after initial use. This might be best for emergency use, rather than as a secondary TV for the kitchen or workshop (which is how we're using it now).

This product worked the first day I turned it on for my aunt. Since this was a Christmas present, it was not turned on until 01/01/07 and did not work the day after or since. Can this defective product be replaced?

We got our little TV to use during bad weather & for taking it to watch football games while @ the ball park. It's perfect, not to heavy & delivers a decent picture.
