My experience with Coby was a very big disappointment. We purchased the Coby DVD - 719 Ultra on April 13th, 2008 and by May 16th, 2008 it was broken. The DVD player would power up but would not read the disk. It took four tries to contact customer service because I was disconnected for the first three tries. The first rep I spoke with was convinced that the DVD player was not working because it was dirty and that I needed to use a DVD cleaner to fix the issue, so I bought a DVD cleaner. This of course did not fix the problem. The next day I called customer service back (this time it took only three tries) and explained the problem again and that I performed the recommended cleaning and that it did nothing to fix the issue. The new rep informed me that I could send the DVD player back at my expense with a $12.00 money order for shipping and processing and in four(4) to six(6) weeks they would send me the repaired device or a replacement. In my opinion why should I have to pay what would add up to approximately half the original price for them to correct their mistake? My recommendation is to avoid Coby and go with a different manufacturer, unless your expectations for DVD player include frustration and disappointment.

Does not support resume when power is removed. Makes it basically useless in the car.

I was initially upset because this item was not what I thought it would be. I wrote a negative review and I would like to set the record straight. Even though I was unable to use this in my car as I had hoped, I realized I could easily connect it to an old TV that my grandkids use when they visit. For the price, it has turned out great! I would recommend this product and company. Their customer service department was very helpful and concerned.

Purchased the coby DVD-719 to put in camper. I had been looking at 12 volt dvd's and decided on this one.It is slim,looks good and works great.

I bought this to replace the broken one at my house, and despite reading some so-so reviews, I loved the price and went for this model. I have had it in use for months now and I haven't had any complaints. It works well.

I bought the Coby DVD-719 ultra compact DVD player for use in my mini VAN before a trip on the weekend and it was great buy. Did not experience any skips or performance issues.. Infact we ended up watching all photos we took on the trip also using the easy to connect video cable. I would recommend it to anyone.

I bought this for our car. I have tried using it for a year. It's always a battle to get a DVD to play without skipping. The player has to be situated just so, or it won't work. Very frustrating!! Spend more money on a better brand.

this review is for the predecessor to the one shown-lasted couple years then pooped out,motor died,wouldn't spin dvd no mo-in its defense,was mounted on its side on a boat so this may have contributed to its demise,not the best environment for electronics either,and they may need to be mounted level,this may have presented unequal and destructive vertical/side loads on motor,i didn't have a choice because of space considerations-worked fine until it expired,used it quite abit-if you have one of the little 12volt tv's that are older models now,popular with truckers,with the built in VHS,this is easy way to get dvd capability,i just bought a new one,so far,so good-if you have the rca inputs for it on the older tv-most now going for 12volt lcd tv's with built in dvd players-i'm old school,and a cheapskate

We bought two of these at Christmas. Neither one works as of March. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

this is a very lighdvd player, it's very easy to carry it, i take it every where
