Top-of-the-line component-video outputs help minimize digital and line-scan artifacts on compatible advanced televisions, while composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television. A set of left/right analog-audio outputs channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one each of RCA coaxial and Toslink optical) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver.
There's no display on the unit itself, but Coby has gone out of its way to ensure that the OSD (onscreen display) is widely usable, and you can set it to not merely English, Spanish, and French, but German and Italian as well.
What's in the Box
DVD player, remote control, remote batteries, user's manual, stereo analog audio interconnect/composite-video cable.

no better than nothing at all,
By heeree "heeree" (Los Angeles) - See all my reviews
This review is from: COBY DVD218 DVD Player (Electronics)
The dvd player never worked - not from the moment it was unpacked. And it wasn't one thing either - it was a whole bunch. The door wouldn't open to insert a disc. Then it said there was no disc (when there was). Next it got stuck playing and refused to respond to the remote or the buttons on the player itself....final straw, the door won't open to get the dvd back out.I didn't expect a lot - just a basic player that worked. Apparently that was too much to expect. I never even watched a single movie. Still going back and forth with Coby to resolve. Will update.

What do you expect for this price?,

For $40 you can't really go wrong. This thing plays everything - Mp3's, DVD's (all regions after a hack), pictures from your digital camers (dump the jpegs straight onto a CD), Video CD's and even works on European TV's without the need for a transformer or convertor. Yes, it feels quite light and cheap, yes the remote control is tempramental at best, yes the door refuses to open the odd time, but what do you expect for $40?

The BEST!,

I got this player as a Christmas present lately, and I AM THRILLED WITH IT! It's amazingly sleek, stylish and (as I gather)affordable. I hooked it up to my TV and this player worked wonders!I'm not really a huge fan of Coby, since my CD Player (which was Coby) conked out last week, but this DVD Player makes up for that! So go ahead! If you're looking for and affordable DVD Player for a bedroom, this is the right one!
