4.0 out of 5 stars Good value!
I just got this item two (2) days ago to replace a broken 5.1 system. I thought that the price was too good to pass up. For roughly $60 I have a system that I am very happy with. It has all of the remote control abilities that the expensive units have and has surprisingly good sound and video quality. If you are looking for a low-priced system I would recommend it. The...

2.0 out of 5 stars Very limited capabilities
For the money the system is not bad and is still working. The largest challenge is that, one can only adjust the sound of the unit on the bass subwoofer. There is no way to get the system to integrate with the remote for the DVD player or my TV. Also this is actually 2 systems and each works indepentdently. The sound is better than the staright TV but the above...

At least the system was not that expensive and I only wasted a little money, but a waste non the less.

I just got this today and it did not take long to set up. I have a decent size room and wanted a surround sound for my t.v. after a lot of searching I came across this. I am totally in love with it and have used Coby products before. I got a cd player from them like 7 years ago and it still works fine. I just hope this is just as good as that and so far it is doing great. I have my t.v. my Will and my cable box hooked in to it I can tell the difference in sound now.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hard wired speakers-Lines too short, November 9, 2011

This review is from: Coby DVD420 2.1-Channel DVD Home Theater System (Black) (Electronics)
Coby DVD420 2.1-Channel DVD Home Theater System (Black) When I purchased the system I was looking for a unit to just play CD's in my bedroom with some nice sound. What I needed was at least a ten foot spread between the speakers. The last unit I had had two RCA plugs going from the speakers to the amp. When the Coby DVD420 arrived, I immediately unpacked just the speakers and discovered they were hard wired together with one RCA plug running to the amp. The spread was only about six feet and there was no way to use any extension since the speakers were wired together. I carefully repacked the box with the factory packing as it had been delivered to me. I packed the unit back in the cardboard box in which it arrived with a letter and the RMA number on both the letter and the box address. I then paid $15.00 to return the unit. Since I paid $40.00 for the unit plus $15.50 shipping I figured an honest company would refund my money. But NO the creeps charged me $6.00 and only refunded #34.00 and change. The company is ANTONLINE.com and I would recommend not purchasing anything from them because of their business practices. As to the unit itself, if you only need a spread of 6 feet between speakers this may be OK...I never tried the unit since the spread was too short for my application. If you really want this Coby system, find another supplier and use them and forget ANTONLINE.com.

Smaller than expected. I would have been happier spending the money wasted on socks, but it was only 30 bucks and gets the job done. Perfect for temporary use and u can upgrade it by building a bigger and better box with hardware components.

Don't even bother. You will get exactly what you pay for. I sent it back. It is junk from the sound quality to the overall materials used. I wasn't expecting a lot. Good thing.

2.0 out of 5 stars NOTHING like the picture depicts, February 10, 2010

Even though the seller does state that the product pictured is not the actual product, it is COMPLETELY different from what it pictured. It's more of a portable dvd player than a home version. Certainly nothing I would purchase to be used in my home.
The product pictured is of a more traditional home DVD player. I expected at least a home DVD player, but this one hails in comparison to home DVD player.
Sure, the price was right, for a home DVD player. For this portable-ish dvd player, I never would have gotten it. And, it's not even that portable, in that it only accepts 110 volt AC. Not even a 12-volt DC option to put in a vehicle. I could live with it if this were the case.
I bought this unti to send to my Dad, and it was over a month before I made the 550 mile trip to see him, by that time it was too late to return. So, it sits on teh corner collecting dust. A home DVD player was purchased in place of this one.
Very, very, VERY disappointed in this product!
How difficult would it be to get a photo of the actual unit being purchased?
Of course, had I seen an actual photo, I wouldn't have purchased this one. But I would have purchased what was really needed. And maybe from the same company.
SO, buyer beware of buying anything from this place. You'll certainly not get anything close to what the photo suggests.
