Coby Home Theatre,

Chose this product because of the value (price vs features). Overall I got what I wanted /expected.
Features I was looking for: -ability to play DivX movies -HDMI connection -Surround sound Bonus features: -USB Connection Annoyances: -vast sound difference between radio and other sources - need dvd player approx level 30, radio level 2. The default setting seems to be level 35, so switching between sources when you turn it on is a pain if you don't turn down the volume -volume knob on the unit is erratic -no random selection when playing music (off USB drive) Installation was easy, works OK with my TV, plays DVD's and videos well, good radio reception.

I bought this for my ama and she put it in the living room.. it works great, a little complicated for people that don't know much about electronics.. settings are easy and simple that's if u read the manuals hahaha... this system looks elegant and i love how u can CAN mount this on the walls by just screwing a screw on the wall and attaching speakers... dvd works great, playing music or videos on a mmc works well, have not tryed usb card, usb card might be better then a mmc card... with a good price u can't go wrong..... o, fast shipping... thanks...

There is only 1 - 2 channel audio input, no optical inputs for hooking up stuff like your xbox to get true surround sound :(,
Note: I was trying to tune the radio to a local station just so when I switch from DVD to AUX and pass radio channel it wouldn't be on static (I have no intent on using this for its radio), when manually browsing through the stations first off it takes forever and when I get to certain non station channels the speakers would go to static at full 100% volume even if muted. Until I get the HDMI cables I ordered I opted to hook up the component cables took a bit to figure out you have to turn on the options in the menu to enable component video and you cannot do that unless u first connect the player via standard video cable.

I bought this item as a Christmas present for my husband. We have used it 6 times and in the middle of watching a movie we paused the movie to greet a guest when we came back the unit had no power and no longer works. We don't even have a way to retrieve the CD inside. The system also does not work through your cable box so basically it is a stand alone system no surround when watching TV. Horrible directions and explaining this before purchase it took us several hours to get sound from our TV when not watching a DVD very disappointing since we had a receiver prior which worked with all components. When we contacted Coby we have had it over 3 months so they will do NOTHING for us. Not only is this a poor quality item but the manufacturer doesn't stand behind their product 3 months for a Home Theater System???

I bought this product and it looked great just what I was hoping for, set it up and it worked great for a couple weeks, then while trying to watch a DVD, lines started appearing just like you would see on a old VHS when the tracking was off, there was nothing I could do to fix this, I tried different DVDs and the same thing happened, but when I put the same DVDs in a different DVD player it played fine so it was not the DVD it was the system. Then while I was watching T.V it suddenly let out a loud high pitch squeal no matter what I did I could not get it to stop. I had to power it off and then back on. When I turned it back on it worked fine for a few minutes then the squeal was back. It was so loud I thought my smoke detectors were going off. So I realized I could no longer use this as a DVD player or surround sound for my TV and I just used it for the radio, then while listening to the radio, out of nowhere the music suddenly stops and a loud static noise blares from the speakers, I thought that maybe it was the station so I tried to change the station and the system was frozen I had to unplug it and wait a while before I plug it back in and tried again. To no avail the same thing happened so I unplugged the system and never plugged it back in. It is garbage...

This is a pretty good sound system for the money. I got it mainly because it plays USB drives and DIVX. This means that I watch videos straight off my flash drive. This was easy to setup, but only has 1 input, so everything has to go through the TV. It sounds pretty good but not a lot of bass. The sub woofer does not have it's own power cord. Overall, I am happy with this system for the price. It is a good value system.

Poor customer service,
This review is from: Coby DVD968 5.1-Channel DVD Home Theater System with 1080p Upconversion, DivX Playback and AM/FM Tuner (Black) (Electronics)
The product is ok...but if you have problems... Customer service sucks. Also, tied of having too many remote controls ... Don't get too excited about adding coby to a universal remote. Their FAQ was less than helpful...
An email I almost sent to them.... In reference to your FAQ regarding remote codes, I found it fairly rude that your answer was simply...the is no code, use the remote that came with it. Really?! There are codes, but they don't function properly....is this coby's attempt at being proprietary like Apple? In this day and age with all kinds of devices out there....all with remotes...I see nothing wrong with allowing a UR to control the device. You're not losing money...the device is already in hand. I now understand many of the comments people have made with regard to coby products relative to their stress level. IF there is any chance you may want to change the image of poor customer service, I'd be happy to help...if you have a solution to the universal remote code...one that is not rude. Hey, what if coby came up with one? Then anyone with a coby product can simplify life by using a remote for coby system, cable and tv... If that's what the big concern is?

SAVE YOUR MONEY ! i went the cheap way and wont do that again. look...$140.00 for a dvd AND surround sound...think about it, you get what you pay for.

For the price range, they sound great, and it is extremely loud (I'm a performing musician, so I can handle VERY loud... While playing my 360, anything above about 15 is uncomfortably loud for me. TV is about 25-30 depending on the program, it defaults at 35, and I've never had any need to try and take it above there.
It's well made, and very solid (be advised, the Sub is rather large), and the DVD player works like a charm. The one con: the fan on the receiver. When there is a signal present, it constantly spins up and down and is loud enough to be heard over the fans on the 360. For the non-gamers, that is a real feat.

This product has excellent sound, and video. It does require some reading of the manual to use certain features, such as the radio. I would purchase it again. For the price, I think it is a good value.
