4.0 out of 5 stars True Blue, April 1, 2009
This review is from: Coby 2GB Flash MP3 Player with FM and Color Display (Blue) (Electronics)
Occasionally, the good folks at Coby's quality control slip up and allow a decent product onto the market. Such is the case with the MP610-2G line of MP3 players. I bought three - one in each color - and so far, after a couple months of steady use (including a 10 day trip to Vegas and AZ, where the Cobys provided all the music in the rented Chevy HHR I had), all have worked really well for a basic iPod nano knockoff. I use the Cobys solely as music players, where the "drag & drop" file loading is easy (works fine with my Mac OS X, too), operation simple to master, and battery life (& quick recharging) is commendable on such an inexpensive player. The screen is way too tiny for watching videos or sharing photos, but the display for audio tracks - while rather blocky on text - is sharp, legible and more than sufficient. All in all, the MP610 has been a pleasant surprise: small, slim, stylish, with very good sound quality and dependable operation. It might not be for anyone who insists on brand name iPods, but for those of us willing to break away from the big Apple's family of mp3 players, the Coby MP610-2G trio offers many of the same features at a more reasonable price point.

It's a good product for a great price. Looks like an ipod but controls are nothing like the ipod. The round controls in the center are really just 4 buttons (up, down, left, right). Pictures & video are a great bonus. I bought it for my 6 & 9 year olds 1st MP3 player and they love it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Giftee, January 7, 2009
This review is from: Coby 2GB Flash MP3 Player with FM and Color Display (Blue) (Electronics)
I received this as a gift. It comes with a quick guide-not a manual. The quick guide is incomplete as to describing how to operate the player. You need the manual to be able to use all the features. The quick guide says that the manual is available on the player and at the web site. The guide doesn't tell you how to find the manual so I called them. We worked through it and found that the manual was in fact not on the player. They were going to send me the quick guide-he didn't know it wasn't the manual. In order to get the manual reloaded on the the player you have to send it back plus some money etc etc. The service rep couldn't tell me if they actually have a manual.

Although the representative tried to be helpful the service from this company is terrible. You quickly run into a stone wall in trying to get something that they say is available and is an integral part of the player. In trying to go "over the head" of the rep to see if there really is a manual, no recourse is available-you're cut off, end, take it or leave it.
