Eh....,
This review is from: Coby Deep Bass Lightweight Stereo Headphones CVH42 (Silver) (Electronics)
For its price, I'd give it three stars. With price out of my mind, I'd give it maybe a 1.5 just because you can at least hear your music. The pads are ok. The started ripping after a few months, but that's normal from wear and tear. The frame holds itself fine--no cracks or bends--but then again, I've only been using these headphones at the computer. They're not the most comfortable headphones in the world, but they're pretty nice and light. It's also adjustable, so you can get a nice fit. I can't complain here. The sound quality is ok for people who don't really care about it. Personally, I found it to be a bit flat. It's better than nothing though. If you're looking for something cheap, then go ahead and get this. Just don't expect anything extraordinary. If you want something with better sound, then skip this one.

These are the best headphones I've ever seen for under $5. You can actually hear the bass on them, which you really can't for must headphones in this price range. (Including some that 2 or 3 times as much). The main downside is the length of cord is fairly short, so it makes using it with my PC a little akward some times.

I bought this to use with one of my mp3 players as a backup set. Well just like my other pair of Coby headphones, the plug doesn't fit right and if you don't hold it just right only one side works. Cheap but Cheap!

My cheap $6 maxell earbud headphones that I used to listen to my German language lessons on my computer recently died. I was looking for a cheap replacement when I came across the Coby CVH42. For the price, I am very pleased. The earphones and padding do look a bit cheap; however, these earphones are comfortable. I have no problem listening to Music or to my language lessons for 2+ hours with these. The other nice thing is the cord is quite a bit longer than my old maxell earbuds, making it easier to use with my PC (which sits on the floor). Of course the sound quality will come nowhere near a Bose or any high quality headphones; however, having purchased it for less than $5, I really cannot complain about the sound quality. It is certainly good enough for the casual listener.

These are the best headphones under $5 I have ever bought, the only thing wrong with them is that the cord is a little short, but they fit nice and tight around the ears so they sound great.

When I purchased the CV123 combo pack (which buy the way isn't even close to worth buying), these headphones were part of the pack. As for as sound goes, it's average. It's pretty flat, no really big bass or good treble, but it's not terrible. They are also very comfortable, and aren't too big. The durability is pretty poor, however. They don't last very long so buy two or three. But for barely above a dollar, these are a definite buy. If they were more expensive then say five dollars, then I'd go for some Sonys.

When I saw the price of these headphone I thought, they must be a piece of junk. But wait, with a price so low, why not try them. Boy was I wrong, for just a few bucks they sound great. The fit isn't the best in the west, who cares they're less than 4 bucks. I would definately would buy them again!!!

Probably the best of its class,

I am a long-time hi-fi enthusiast / musician and have done lots of critical listening on pretty nice rigs over the years. I have been testing out tons of budget headphones lately, including direct comparisons between models of similar design and price point. If you refuse to spend more than $5-6 on a pair of headphones, this is probably one of the 2-3 best choices on the market.Like most of the budget Cobys, they have a noticeably recessed-- but not what I'd call "muffled"-- midrange and treble. Bass range and strength is respectable. Once you get used to the bass being somewhat louder (thankfully, not more bloated) than everything else, these are pretty decent phones to live with. They are not magical or highly detailed. They produce music across the full spectrum *decently* for what they cost, and are relatively easy to listen to doing so. Only a few bucks more gets you into the Coby CV185, which I consider a better choice overall for build, comfort and efficiency, although the 185 sounds duller / stuffier in the upper half of the spectrum. Only $10 more gets you into something like the Koss KSC75 / KTXPro1, both of which are worlds better in every way, sonically, than the CVH42 *or* CV185. But, again, if you're a $5-no-ifs-ands-or-buts phone person, these should be at the top of your list. The CVH42s put most other $5 phones like the Koss KPH5s to absolute shame-- because most $5 phones like (including) the KPH5 are absolutely unlistenable. One thing: The package claims 115dB/1mW efficiency for the CVH42s. This has got to be a joke, unless I missed a "+/-30dB" somewhere in very small print. The CVH42s I tried are very inefficient compared to others in their class. I can barely push them to what I'd consider medium volume with my Android phone and older / moderately-mastered source material; I could do better with my more potent 5.5G iPod, but still couldn't get them to extremely high volumes. Odd, since the Coby CV185s are quite the opposite, almost *too* efficient-- I'd plug them in right after unplugging another set of phones and always have to go scrambling to turn the volume down right away. Rating based on bang-for-buck / performance within its class.

I find it hard to believe some of the low ratings on this product. I paid $3.15 delivered. I was amazed at the quality for the price. I expect the foam to deteriorate over time. I expect to break the fine wires inside over time. I was very impressed with the quality of these headphones Amazon sent me for $3.15. Best Pair of $12.00 Headphones I ever bought for $3.00

Works for a month, invest more $ in something longer-lasting,

It's cheap and you get what you paid for - it works for a month, then loses all of its power. I recently spent more money in bigger, better headphones (just under $30) and hopefully it will last for years.
