The MP-C351 is more than just a MP3 boombox, with a built-in FM radio and recorder for listening to the ballgame or catching up on the news, along with an integrated microphone for digital voice recording. The latter function is ideal for recording lectures, capturing grocery lists, or saving song ideas before they disappear into the air. The boombox can also function as an alarm clock, with three alarm options: wake to an MP3 track, the radio, or a buzzer. Other details include real-time MP3 encoding that lets you record your CDs into the memory without a computer; ID3 and LRC support for song and synchronized lyric information display; a mobile data storage function; and a high-speed USB 2.0 interface (up to 40x faster than USB 1.0); and a line-in jack for connecting a laptop, video game system, or other audio device.
The MP-C351 boombox, which runs on four C-size batteries, works with Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000, and XP and Mac OS X operating systems and carries a 90-day warranty.
What's in the Box

More than I expected for such a small unit,

This review is from: Coby MP-C351 Portable MP3 Boom Box with 512 MB Flash Memory and SD Card Slot (Electronics)
Have owned for about 2 months now and am pleased with purchase. Use nightly for 10 to 12 hours to play white noise recorded on SD card, daily to play TV audio with my small projector, and ocasionally during day to play music from SD card or listen to NPR. Will take 2 GB SD card without problems. Does a very good job for such a small unit. Works well on FM, internal and external (SD card) memory, and line in. Volume as expected is lower than a larger unit. Only complaint is the lack of AM radio and a remote would be nice.

Ok, so I saw the bad reviews here, but we bought one of these on closeout. My 5 year old daughter has one she carries around always and just LOVES IT. How they packed so much into this box! Amazing sound from the little box, easy USB connectivity (shows up as flash drive), built in memory to start, radio, line in, records in 44khz 128 bit mp3 beautifully, alarm, decent interface, cool looking perfect sized with cool integrated antenna. I don't usually gush over stuff, but I am an engineer, and I am not usually impressed. There is always some missing feature I wish gadgets had. This is different. It is perfect, although slightly buggy. The battery life is fine, but the full meter shows it's out waaay before it is. We are using AA rechargeables in C spacers which seem to work great (I wish it just took AAs anyway). I haven't tried it, but apparently the SD interface is buggy. My daughter is fine with 512meg. My daughter is not real nice too it, but it has held up so far. It sounds like I am lucky on this one, but we haven't had problems. I would buy these for all the kids in my life. Hopefully Coby comes up with a follow up that fixes some of the minor issues. I would for sure buy even this one again though!

COBY SHMOBY,
This review is from: Coby MP-C351 Portable MP3 Boom Box with 512 MB Flash Memory and SD Card Slot (Electronics)
This thing was about what I expected, but I had hoped for more. The button functions are fairly unclear, couldn't figure out how to turn it off for a while. It eats batteries like fat kids eat cake. FM radio is virtually useless due to poor reception. This is old technology by now, so do yourself a favor and buy something else unless they are giving these away.
