Amazon.com

Enjoy the finest in multimedia performance without sacrificing portability with the Coby MP-C961 portable MP3 player. Equipped with a 20 GB hard drive that stores up to 10,000 songs and a 2-inch LCD full-color display, the unit lets you watch videos, listen to music, view photos, and read text--all in a housing that measures a mere 2.48 by 4.17 by 0.65 inches (W x H x D). And that's just the beginning, as the MP-C961 also includes an integrated FM radio and recorder, a digital voice recorder for archiving voice notes, and an elegant touchpad interface control.

Video-wise, the MP-C961 supports the MPEG-4 (XviD) format, while audio formats include MP3, WMA, OGG, and WAV. (Other supported formats include JPEG for photos and TXT for e-books). Listeners will also delight in the comprehensive music library, which lets you find your music by artist, album, song, or playlist. And when it's time to add music to your library, simply connect to a PC or Mac and jump onto any DRM-10 supported online music store or subscription service. The MP3 player even lets you sing along to your favorite music via a synchronized music display (requires LRC files).

Busy users, meanwhile, will appreciate the MP-C961's voice recording function, which records up to 350 hours of footage. The voice function is ideal for users who want to save song ideas, record interviews or lectures, or simply jot down an audible grocery list. Other details include real-time MP3 encoding, which lets you record your CDs onto the hard drive without a computer; a USB 2.0 interface for ultra-fast file transfers (up to 40x faster than USB 1.0); USB on-the-go host support for transferring data from another USB-enabled device without a computer; and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

The MP-C961, which offers plug-and-play support for Windows 98 SE, 2000, Me, or XP and Mac OS X or higher, is backed by a 90-day warranty.

Buttons: there's a sort of touch pad that is reasonably sensitive, it can make finding a place to hold it while navigating a little difficult but it can be done. There is a hold button and the on off is reasonably intuitive. As with other hard drive style players looking at the display is somewhat important no buttons by feeling here.
mp3s: It plays a variety of formats, mp3s, ogg, wav and wmvs or whatever window's proprietary crud format is. I have played mp3s and ogg both are very clear. There are a variety of different playback modes, shuffle, repeat for one for several for everything. Awesome. It has a resume function- love it, great for audio books and podcasts no complaints.
Recording: I havent really tried anything yet although I did accidently do some voice recording. If it does everything it says it does, it'll be wonderful. I can record voice, radio, inline- inline is very interesting. Zune claims it's cutsy proprietary dmr format and sending those wirelessly, great. Coby can take anything off a zune and record it to mp3 which can play as many times as you like. It's got this inline port and an inline wire and you can record anything with audio. Did you say you wanted some star trek sounds, but paramont is being irritating and screwing over fans? Well buy those dvds, or rent them or whatever play them and when you come to the sound you want record it, mp3 format- easy enough to convert to wav if you need a theme. So anything with that standard headphone input you can record- you know that turntable at home? Yeah you can record from that, as you hear it. Yeah.

I did not purchase this unit, but I had recently purchased a similar Coby 20gb player over the internet. I received the unit not working, and after hassling with the company that I purchased it from, I returned it to Coby directly. After months of waiting for a replacement, that one didn't work either. It was a beautiful product, but the packageing did not make the machine work. I never got Coby to return phone calls to return the second unit. I will not purchase any Coby product again.
Buyer beware!!!
