This review is from: Coby TFDVD7751 7-Inch Tablet Portable Dual Screen DVD Player, Black (Electronics)
We purchased this unit for a road trip with our young children. I couldn't have asked for a better unit. We paid about $140 with fulfillment by Amazon. It comes with all the cables you'll ever need: A/C adaptor, car adaptor, cassette adaptor (not sure what that's for), cables to connect DVD player to a TV, cable to connect DVD playing unit to the second monitor, two sets of headphones. Also comes with remote control and batteries. The included cases that hold the units to the back of the front-row headrests were easy to install and work fine. The car cord reaches from the front seat all the way to the outlet in the trunk of my Honda Odyssey, leaving the front outlet available for phone/ipod/gps/etc. The picture is clear on both screens, and sound from either unit was clear and loud enough even on bumpy roads. Anti-skip technology worked well. Potential Cons (and I'm really stretching to call them "cons"): 1. You have to unplug, then take the player out of the headrest-mounted holder to change the DVD. I didn't think this was hard to do; I'd get the movie cued up before replacing the unit in its holder. 2. DVD player takes an extra moment or two to skip ahead when you press the >> button. This is relative to a nice DVD player I have in my family room at home. I can't see how this would inconvenience anyone too much. It's a matter of a few seconds, not "forever." 3. Headphones are a strange design, I couldn't figure out how to get them to fit on anyone's head. They do work, we plugged them in just to test them out, but we never intended to use them, so I didn't try too hard to figure out how to make them fit. I'll give Coby the benefit of the doubt and assume they probably do fit on someone's head, somehow. [update: I got a teenager to show me how the headphone goes around the ear. I feel so OLD.] 4. Be careful where you store the screens; like other portable DVD players, they can scratch. BOTTOM LINE: Just what we needed, high quality video and audio on both screens for a great price! Highly recommend.

Great Quality and Handy for Families and Trips,

This review is from: Coby TFDVD7751 7-Inch Tablet Portable Dual Screen DVD Player, Black (Electronics)
I received this portable DVD player as a present from my parents. It was a great gift for the whole family, especially my 2 and 3 year olds. I love it and it works great. The screens are made to hang on the back of the headrests of the front of car seats but we installed ours in a four door truck which doesn't have the type of seats with a separated headrest. We ended up having to criss-cross the straps to hang the screens on the back of the seats but that ended up working just fine. Some have mentioned whether the quality was as good on the second screen, I have noticed that the sound seems to not be quite as loud on the second unit but that hasn't been a problem because both screens' volume adjusts individually and I just turn the second one up a little. For those that are not familiar with the basic operations: one screen is the player where the DVD is actually inserted and the other is just a monitor, the two screens are connected to each other by cords and they play the same thing at the same time. You can hook them up inside a car with the car adaptor cord or into a wall outlet with AC/DC adaptor. I'm not techy at all and I figured out how to operate and install within just minutes so operation and set-up is a breeze. The only inconvenience on long trips is that to switch DVDs, you must remove the player from its pouch, disconnect the wires, switch the Dvds then reinsert in case and reattach the wires. It's not really a problem on short trips but if you're traveling for longer, then you will have to pullover to change out DVDs. But I think that would be the case with any of these portable DVD players. This set comes with head phones, which we don't use for safety reasons with small children. It also comes with a remote, car adaptor cord, two AC/DC adaptors, and audio and video cables. It also plays CDs for audio listening and jpeg files but I've only used with DVDs. It's been really great to use and I'm so thankful for it. I recommend to others, just wish they had stuff like this around when I was a kid.

Coby TFDVD7751,
This review is from: Coby TFDVD7751 7-Inch Tablet Portable Dual Screen DVD Player, Black (Electronics)
I would have to say that when I bought this unit I was a little affraid. I read reviews on other units that talked about how the 2nd screen didn't have a great picture. This unit was not like that. We bought it for our 21 month old for our 6hr trips to and from our parents. It was on most of the trip and had no isses. The second screen has just as good of a picture as the main screen. I was very pleased with the unit. The sound is great also. The only drawback is the case that holds the units. You have to unplug the unit in order to take it out and switch the dvd. Also it scratches the screen if you are not careful. But I still give it a 5 star. I recommend it for anyone who has kids and travels. A+

One must take the entire slave unit out of the bag to change the movie. With previous players, I can reach back from the driver's seat and change movies with one hand. With this unit, I would need to stop the car and pull the unit off the seat to change the movie. Also, my unit did not work. Unimpressed and returned for refund. Would recommend spending ~$25 additional and buying the Phillips or another comparable model. I would not recommend this product.

Coby TFDVD7751 - As Advertised,
This review is from: Coby TFDVD7751 7-Inch Tablet Portable Dual Screen DVD Player, Black (Electronics)
Coby TFDVD7751 7-Inch Tablet Portable Dual Screen DVD Player, BlackThis is a great product. Works great! We got it from a seller that offered a free gaming add-on. Lets on play a game while the other watches a video, or both can be used separatley as it's own gaming. Good sound, batter last quite a while. Only drawback is that you must unplug all the cords and pull the player unit out to change the dvd. Very difficult to do while you are driving. Remote works well - nice feature is the hold switch - locks all the buttons and remote so the kids done "accidently" press something they arent supposed to. Love this player - good quality as a very good price!

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! I have had nothing but problems with this product. I purchased the product in June 2009. The power cord did not work on one of the screens. I paid COBY $6.00 to have a new power cord sent to me. 6 weeks later I received the new cord. The cord and TV's worked great for 6 days then the DVD player quit working and displayed a blue screen saying NO SIGNAL. I paid $16.00 to send the product to COBY and an additional $18.00 to have COBY send me another unit. Six weeks later (September 2009)I recived the new product and the product still didn't work. To power the DVD player on I had to physically hold the power cord into the unit. Once powered on it wouldn't play a DVD but instead displayed WRONG DISC across the screen. I contacted COBY and asked for my money back but they said COBY has a NO REFUND POLICY. Now I'm stuck with a product that doesn't work because I refuse to pay an additional shipping charge to have a new one sent to me. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

I do not normally have the time for writing reviews, however, this one I feel is VERY necessary. My wife & I purchased this unit in May 2009 to take along on a vacation with our five children to Orlando, a 14 hour drive one way from our residence. We purchased it earlier on because we thought it was a good deal at the time, paid 149.95 with Amazon's free shipping. We were happy that it arrived quickly, although it was not taken out of its box and used until the last week of July 2009, when we were on our way out to Disneyworld. We plugged in our brand new dual unit into our 2009 Toyota Sienna car lighter with the car D/C adapter the unit came with, and to our surprise the TV came on momentarily and then went off. I realized the adapter blew a fuse (3amp) and decided to stop at an automart to purchase a package of 4 amp and 5 amp fuses. Neither of them worked. The unit continued to blow the fuse!!! MY CHILDREN AND I WERE VERY VERY UNHAPPY AT THIS POINT!! When we returned home from our trip, I contacted Amazon about the problem, and they advised me that they have a 30 day return policy, which had expired, and that I would need to contact COBY, the manufacturer of this DEFECTIVE product, and provided me with their telephone number. I contacted COBY, and a gentleman there advised me that the television had a short in it and it would need to be returned, AT MY EXPENSE, using a trackable shipping method, and to include a note as to what is wrong with the television, and get this, A MONEY ORDER FOR $18 for return processing!! I was dumbfounded! This company sells products they refuse to warranty 100%?? I decided to bring the unit in from the vehicle and plug it in to a wall outlet, which I should have done before my call to Coby in the first place. The TV worked fine. This morning I contacted COBY once again, and explained that the TV worked fine plugged into a wall outlet and fine off of a charged battery, but when plugged into the vehicle lighter, it continued to blow a fuse. The representative proceeded to tell me that I would have to return the car adapter with a note included explaining the problem and include a $6 RETURN PROCESSING FEE!! Now, I was floored! This unit THEY MANUFACTURED was only taken out of the box, plugged in and NEVER WORKED as it should since IT IS PORTABLE, less than 60 days old, and COBY'S policy is to demand more of your money for any replacement, repair or part!! I have NEVER in my life dealt with a company, especially in electronics, who provided such ridiculous customer service! They should have been willing to send a replacement of the adapter, with proof of purchase, under 90 days old, NO QUESTIONS ASKED, like the majority of REPUTABLE MANUFACTURERS DO! Never again will I buy a COBY product as long as I live! If you decide to, BEWARE! COBY does NOT STAND BEHIND THE PRODUCTS THEY MANUFACTURE! You can contact them of this incident at (800)727-3592. I'll be heading to WalMart today to find a replacement for their lousy adapter. Good luck to you!

The only complaint that I have so far is that the cases for the car do not allow children to change the movies easily. I got this for a cross-country trip with 4 kids (9, 7, 2 year-old twins) and just me. The older ones had a really hard time getting the player in and out of the case to change a movie. You have to disconnect all the cables, pull it out, re-insert it in the case and then plug cables back in. It is not so bad for 2 hour movies, but for a 30 minute Wiggles DVD, it is a pain. The quality is good and the cable are long enough to reach one screen in the back of the van with no problem. The picture quality is surprisingly good! It did come with every cable and accessory known to man. It's greatest feature is the HOLD switch on the side that freezes functions and doesn't allow little toes pushing the buttons to constantly stop the movie, or skip parts, etc. That saved me a lot of groaning from the older ones. I am pleased so far and hopefully we will get more use out of it!!

WARNING - COBY DOES NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTY- We purchased this product in June of 2009. It lasted until November before it quit working. The warranty states that labor is covered for 90 days and parts are covered for 1 year. When we contacted Coby they said that the player itself is only covered for 90 days. They said that the player is not considered a part. They tried to claim that the player itself is only covered under labor. We are still confused by the whole conversation. Bottom line COBY DOES NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTYS. If you divide the cost of this product by the number of DVDs we played on it cost us about $15.00 per use before it self destructed. On top of the problem that we had with the device failing after a few short months of little use, the product itself is not that impressive. It is complicated to navigate the menus and is not designed for use by children, so be ready to crawl in the back seat to change DVDs. To change a DVD, you must disconnect all 5 wires that are connected to the main devise, remove it from its clumsy pouch, insert the new DVD, and then put it all back together again. The product is also bulky and has wire running in every direction. Poor design and cheap construction. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. IT WILL ONLY STRESS YOU OUT AND MAKE YOUR CHILDEREN SAD. If I can save one person the stress that a Coby product would bring, then this posting would have been worth my time and effort.

So far, I have not had 1 problem with this product. I purchased it for my son who is a 1 1/2 and he watches it everytime he gets in the car. The only thing is that it is not very easy to change the dvd. You have to unplug all the cords and remove it from the headrest case to change the dvd. Other than that the product is great! I would definitely recommend this product to a friend :)
