3.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for
It wouldn't be fair to compare this to an iPod, that would be like comparing a Saturn to a BMW. Compared to other budget MP3 players, this is a decent product. It's small, sexy, and the touch pad is very nice. The screen is clear and large enough to comfortably navigate the menu. It plays MP3, OGG, and WMA formats, which is always good, and it has video and picture...

3.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for, August 23, 2009
This review is from: Coby 2 Inch Touchpad Video MP3 Player with FM 2 GB MP705-2GBLK (Black) (Electronics)
It wouldn't be fair to compare this to an iPod, that would be like comparing a Saturn to a BMW. Compared to other budget MP3 players, this is a decent product. It's small, sexy, and the touch pad is very nice. The screen is clear and large enough to comfortably navigate the menu. It plays MP3, OGG, and WMA formats, which is always good, and it has video and picture capabilities. I personally don't care to watch videos or view pictures on a 2" screen, but some people may like to. And it offers playlists and "drag and drop". You can also sync with windows media player, which is what I prefer.

It has it's negatives though, and there are a few. It's 11 hour battery life just doesn't cut it for me. If you want to fill this up with music, be prepared for some constant frustration as the scrolling speed in the music menu is ridiculously slow, so I have to rely on playlists. You have to have at least Window Media Player 10 to use this. The instructions say you need WMP11, but I get by using WMP10. if you don't have it, your computer will not recognize the device correctly. The packaged headphones are garbage, but then again, the headphones every iPod comes with are garbage as well. Another big negative is the lack of support for AAC format(M4A in iTunes), which is a compressed music file, and very handy for conserving space.

If you're on a very tight budget, or you just don't intend to use it very much, this may work for you. But if you're serious about your music and you can afford it, I say get an iPod. This MP3/4 player is good for a tight budget, but you get what you pay for.

This is a great looking mp3 player. The sound is great - the earbuds are good quality. I'm thinking about buying another one for my daughter.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says and easy to use., August 24, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I took it out of the box and in no time at all I had all of my music loaded and was ready go. It came with the battery at half charge and took very little time to fully charge after that. If the battery is not charged, you should charge it as recommended. It is very easy to navigate through the menus and set up. Excellent for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good, February 9, 2009
This review is from: Coby 2 Inch Touchpad Video MP3 Player with FM 2 GB MP705-2GBLK (Black) (Electronics)
I have to say that I was pretty impressed with this mp3 player. At a fractions of the price that you would find similier players. I have gone through 2 mp3 players in the past year, and I have only had this one for 3 days now and it seems pretty tough. I like the abililty of it to play music, store pictures. I have not tried to do video with it yet, but I was suprised that it will store e-books as well. I also liked that it uses window's media player for software, so it is easy to load music. I boougt an Ipod for my wife for Christmas and I am still trying to figure out how it's software works. Too cumbersome for me.
The only draw back would have to be the casing itself. While it is sleak and tough looking; it needs to be. There is no clip on the outside of the player so it slips easily out of your pocket, and I have not seen any accessories to remedy this problem so I only gave it 4 stars. I also have not had it long enough to judge it on durability. The two previous mp3 players that I have owned only lasted to the length of the warrenty, (go figure.)

Nice mp3 player for the price. Video quality not equal to ipods or zune, but it is great for the price if music is your main objective.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the MP3 Player for people who want large capacity at little cost, February 18, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this MP3 player for my daughter, who has had a number of MP3 players before this one. Her children have MP3 players as well, but they are not as nice, not as durable and have no where near the capacity of this unit. Yet I paid MORE for them than I did for this one.

The only negative I have found is that it doesn't support Audible, com (filetype .aa) files.
But since my daughter doesn't subscribe to Audible that isn't really a problem at all.
If you are an Audible subscriber you need to keep this in mind.

I am a subscriber but I keep a separate MP3 player that supports Audible for listening to Audible books while I have a second MP3 player with a much larger capacity for playing MP3 books, MP4 movies and MP3 music.
That seems to give me the best of both worlds since MP3 players that support Audible generally cost more than those that do not support Audible.

A 2MB Sansa MP3 player would cost from $100-130 while this Coby MP705 with 2 MB of memory costs about $42.69 from Amazon currently.

So if you don't need Audible support or have a second MP3 player that supports Audible, this machine is a great buy for a slick looking, thin light and durable device.

5.0 out of 5 stars So Much In Such A Small Package, December 19, 2008

This review is from: Coby 2 Inch Touchpad Video MP3 Player with FM 2 GB MP705-2GBLK (Black) (Electronics)
This MP3 player is awesome, the size, sound, and all that you can do with this little electronic wonder. It comes with 3 videos and 2 songs already installed..plus fully charged..so you get to listen to it right out of the package. I am so glad I made the right choice by picking Coby, you have to buy it, and try it..to believe it.
