If you are looking for a boom box to play your devilish music on then this speaker is not for you as the sound volume will not go high enough to annoy the people around you in all directions.

1.0 out of 5 stars A compact piece of junk.
These speakers reminds me of the sound quality produced from the cheap radios that came from Japan in the old days. Don't waste your money on this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great for me, June 20, 2009
This review is from: Coby Travel Speaker System for iPod and MP3 Players (Black) (Electronics)
If you are looking for a boom box to play your devilish music on then this speaker is not for you as the sound volume will not go high enough to annoy the people around you in all directions.

I ordered this travel speaker to plug into my little mp3 player and am very pleased with the sound quality. I listen to lectures and language learning mp3s so I don't need blasting sound. The clarity of the sound is quite good. I do listen to some nasheeds also and the sound quality is good for that also. I can put this at my desk or by my bed to listen as I don't always like putting something in my ears to hear with. The zipper case unzips and I use 2 AA rechargeable batteries. You can easily throw this in a bag to take with you. This was a little bigger than I expected but that is fine. To get a perspective it is about 1 1/2 the size of my open hand.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT!!, June 21, 2009
This review is from: Coby Travel Speaker System for iPod and MP3 Players (Black) (Electronics)
This is a GREAT system to have! I use it at work. And since I don't know where I'm going to be working all the time, the clip comes in handy! My friends want one when they see it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Portable Speakers, September 21, 2009
This review is from: Coby Travel Speaker System for iPod and MP3 Players (Black) (Electronics)
I have this speaker and it works great with my iPod shuffle. I clip the speakers to my bike and it works well for the 2 hour bike ride without having to change the batteries. It allows me to listen to music as well as listen for traffic and people around me. The volume is great for a bike ride around the city and beach. The sound quality is impressive.

The 3.5mm jack is standard and works with my Philips MP3 player as well as all iPods. This works best with iPods because the storage inside is flat. My Philips MP3 player doesn't fit inside because it's not flat. When you unzip the pouch, the ON/OFF switch is on one side and the mesh screen is on the other side. Your MP3 player fits into this slot for added protection.

The shell of the speakers is made of hard material. You can shove it in the bottom of your backpack and it won't get crushed. It's durable and extremely convenient when you don't want to use headphones. Great for camping, hiking, bonfires, etc.

The reason for the 4-star rating is the lack of storage space for non-iPod products.

These speakers are easy on battery life and put out decent volume, but they're still cheap portable speakers. They don't sound fantastic, but they don't sound awful either. The problem I have with this product is the durability. After about a year of gentle use - I just left it on the passenger seat of my car 99% of the time, and never took it out of the car - the internal wiring seems to have come apart. Now it'll play, but only when the audio jack and wire are held at a specific angle.

Pros:
Inside storage pocket makes it easy to zip your mp3 player up inside and just have one portable unit
Doesn't suck up batteries too quickly
Sound quality is decent for the price

Cons:
Just a little bit louder would have been awesome
They feel cheap, and they're definitely not designed to last forever
Cheap enough that I don't worry about breaking or losing them

I was going to spend quite a bit of money for one of those iPod docking speaker systems when I found this on Amazon.com. I thought for the price it was well worth seeing if the speakers were any good. The sound is amazing. The inside is designed to keep your iPod secure while connected. I take this everywhere. My kids love listening to their songs on walks or in the grocery store. It is very easy to use and to transport.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor sound quality, January 14, 2010
This review is from: Coby Travel Speaker System for iPod and MP3 Players (Black) (Electronics)
The sound quality on this speaker is terrible. Fuzzy and fizzy. I can barely distinguish words. There is no volume adjustment. Not a great buy.

Excellent for the price. It provides good protection for the nano, it is loud enough. The sound is what you would expect from something cheap but fine for outdoor audio.

I use this product for my PALM PRE. Sound is pretty good. loud enough to play music in a load and very noisy room. No room inside the pouch for the for my PALM PRE but cant complain. Bad thing is that the switch to turn the unit on or off is located inside the pouch. and if you dont remember to turn it off the batteries will die. they should have put the indicator light on the outside. to remind you that it is ON. All though the PRICE is right for the SOUND, NO BASS Lots of Midrang and treble.

IPHONE, IPOD USERS Great for you.
