SUCKS!,
This review is from: Coby 2.8 Inch Widescreen Video MP3 Player with FM 16 GB MP815-16GBLK (Black) (Electronics)
Ok the first thing I noticed was the sliding button to turn the power on was loose when I opened the package. Second thing was the case seemed to not fit. There's an opening at the bottom like it wasn't assembled properly. Third, I charged it and after it said charging complete I unplugged it and the battery life indicated it was only 2/3 full. It only held a charge for about 3 hours before it died. I don't know if I just have a bad one but I figured I got what I paid for so... On the brighter side, the sound is excellent, it's easy to navigate through the menus. I like the size of the screen. I have only used the music and radio portions of the device, and if it wasn't for the casing and lack of a charge, it would be a great product and excellent buy.

I picked up the MP815 because of its OGG support and relatively larger capacity. Unfortunately, that's where the pros end.
It does play OGG files, but it ignores the tags (artist, title, track, etc). So, all OGG files get dumped into the No Artist bin, making organization impossible. Primary issue: usability. The round directional button is extremely difficult to use. Going left and right is not too difficult, but pressing up or down registers very rarely. The button as a whole has no tactile feedback (you don't feel it click). It is quite frustrating to be trying to go down through a list of songs and the player doesn't go down the list when you press the down button. Other annoyances - I can't drag and drop files into this device in Windows Explorer. To get files into the device, I have to copy and paste. I tried renaming a file once it was on the device; the name remained as it was. Tried again using the included media management program, same problem. The above issues show that Coby has not put a great deal of effort into designing and delivering a product. Usability issues which affect the main function of the device show that Coby has not taken user testing and feedback into consideration in their design. I'm going to return this product.

I use this for videos and mp3's. it took me an hour to learn to use it without reading the instructions. you must use the included software for video transfer and conversion. not sure about mp3. i used it on h264, avi, mp4, mkv, and one mp3, with no failures. it does take longer to import a movie than it does to watch it. the player seems solidly built but i think it will break if i drop it on concrete. same with water. the fm radio works well. the ear buds are more than adequate. i have had no problems with the player or software. navigation in the player is intuitive. display is clear, sharp, and brightly lit. totally viewable except in sun light. also play back is smooth and glitch free. it fits in shirt pocket with room for a pack of smokes. i am 52 years old so the player seems like magic. well worth the money.

Not good for video,

I really wanted to like this device, but it's just no good for video, which was my primary intended use. I have videos already translated to small file sizes and different formats (AVI, MP4, with various standard codecs) which should play just fine on this device (according to Coby's marketing and the product's instructions) but when I copy them to the unit, it won't play a single one of them. If I use the software that comes with it to convert the files, it takes several HOURS per video clip. And 2 out of 3 times it still won't play. I tried the software on 2 different Macs (won't work at all) and a PC (barely works as described above). The instructions are so poorly written, and so basic, that they provide no assistance at all. I'm returning it. It's fine for playing music, but if you want to watch video, save your money and your headaches and get an iPod. I should have done that in the first place.

Had this item for 4 months, worked good from the start. After using it for 3 months it completely died. Charged it for at least 24hrs. and still nothing. Out of the blue it started working again, another month and it was dead again, this time for good. all the time spent downloading music and videos all for nothing, all lost. Don't waste your money. I'll never buy this brand again for anything.

the product is very easy to use!! u wont find a problem putting on any music/video, or whatever.the only problem is that the protective pouch is too flimsy, it seems to be ripping apart on the 1st day. i dont know if it was a bad one but the product is good!!

I have had this player for over a month now. I have had my fair share of experience with Mp3 payers. This is probably the worst one that i have ever owned in terms of battery life. The battery life of this player is pathetic. It would dry out in a couple of days even when kept turned off. On full charge u can listen to 3-4 hrs of audio or Max 1 hr of video. But i would say that the screen is really good. Think twice before buying this player.

Frustrating as it gets,

To make it simple, the most maddening thing about this product is the difficulty in getting it to arrange music into its appropriate folders (ie. "Artist", "Album", etc.). I've tried using iTunes, Windows Media Player, and the included Coby Media Manager program. I've also tried just moving music straight in, treating the player as a mountable drive. Somehow, I eventually ended up with three CDs being categorized correctly, while the rest just get dumped into the generic <No Artist> list.
Overall, I would NOT recommend buying this player. Spend a few extra bucks for something well-engineered.

The player is completely unresponsive to buttons. No amount of resetting fixes it. So basically, Amazon is selling 60 dollar paper weights.
