This review is from: Coca Tea Novoandina Whole-leaf Loose Tea 100 Grams (Health and Beauty)
I heard about this product (coca)thru a documentary. so I decided to try it as a pick me up during the day. When i first got the product i was very skeptical. It turns out to work great as a stimulant, and it also had added benefits as well. There is one caveat to this though, to bring out the leaf's potency you have to use it with another substance, the locals call it lejia. It is basically an alkaline product made with ash & lime. If that sounds disgusting I found a great substitute if you can get past the taste, it is household baking soda, all you need is just a little a pinch is good enough. I usually chew my leaves, now when I say chew, i dont mean like chewing gum. All you do is put a nice wad in your cheek like chewing tobacco, and moisten it, then you add a pinch of baking soda and let your own saliva work it and just swallow the juices (at this point if the flavor is strong I usually swallow with a gulp of whatever liquid i'm drinking). Also if you cant stand the baking soda, I presume you could use those natural toothpaste made with baking soda instead. Anyway once you add the baking soda it really starts to work, and then you get the numbness in your mouth letting you know its good stuff. Now the added benefit I got beside the extreme caffiene type kick, is that it also takes away your appetite (for all those trying to lose weight, this is a definite plus). Beside the appetite inhibition it also soothes any stomache nausea or pain, and whenever I have diarrhea, I always use this because it works just as good as imodium. I hope this helps, I wish I had someone guiding me on how to use it, because when I tried this without the baking soda, it didn't work as well, and I thought I wasted my money. All in all I think this is a great product for those of us who want a natural stimulant without having to take all that man made stuff. In my humble opinion give me anything from mother earth over anything made in a lab. I also prefer the loose leaf coca over the teabags, 'cause you can decide to chew or make into tea own your own perogative (which i have done...made into a tea, it's not as pontent as chewing}.

I bought it thinking it would give me energy, but it didn't.. It did help in decreasing my appetite, i don't really think of food much any more and lost about 5 lbs in 2 weeks.. I think I will try the flour now, maybe that will help with my energy.. i am just tired of using caffeine for energy, :(

These are the smallest tea leaves I have ever purchased. I guess 100 grams is 100 grams but the small leaves are hard to work with.
