This product arrived a few days after the expected time interval, so I sent in a complaint. However, it is all I expected it would be. We got used to drinking coca tea regularly during our recent trip to Peru, so we decided to order some -- it's stronger than the bagged version we got in Peru, and tastes better than the pure leaves. I recommend it.

This tea was very nice. I am glad we can get this in the US. They take out the drug part, but it didn't affect the taste too much. From what I understand the American manufacturers say that the medicinal affects are still there. Don't know if this is true, but the tea has a nice flavor. Put less water if you like a stronger tea because the tea is a bit weak for the average mug. I use a cup of water and the flavor is tasteful.

I just recently read an article on nbcwashington.com about this type of tea [...]. Coca tea is made from the leaves of the coca plant and has trace amounts of cocaine in it. Apparently not enough to be addictive or to warrant censure by the FDA, but enough to potentially cause failure of a drug test. This is not the same stuff as yerba mate, which is a similar stimulant with a completely different origin. Just because something is organic doesn't mean it's good for you. Any tea made from the coca plant will have trace amounts of cocaine, as it's not possible to "de-cocanize" it completely in the same way that decaf coffee has trace amounts of caffeine.
