DO NOT buy into the hype!!!,

I am shocked and saddened to say that this cushion is absolutely useless. Given that almost every single review for the product on Amazon was overwhelmingly positive I hoped it would provide some relief (Not to mention be worth the ridiculous $35 price tag - PLUS $9 for shipping!?), but that is NOT the case AT ALL. Besides the fact that it's overpriced no matter what, this is NOT a "firm" cushion in any way, and immediately gives way under your weight (I am about 5'11" and only weigh 164 lbs. so I am certainly NOT huge by any means). So, it's not very comfortable as a result, and I don't think I even sat on the thing for but 15 - 20 minutes before I couldn't stand it anymore. I totally feel like I wasted my money, and quite a bit of it... There may be a ton of glowing reviews for this product here, but I can't fathom why, and would STRONGLY encourage you to try another product before this one (though sadly I have nothing better to recommend)!

I've had this cushion for a few days and I've used it everywhere. At work, on the train, the bench at a softball field and at school (they have metal chairs). I noticed while sitting in class for over an hour that I didn't cross my legs or figit around in the seat. A teacher tried and was also impressed. I love this cushion, and I would recommend it to anyone who has problems with their sit bones and any muscles around them. Defintely worth the money.

I bought this because of my broken coccyx. Before it, I tried on a "Tush Cush" and an inflatable ring. The inflatable ring is totally useless for me: (i) the 16" diameter is too small for an average adult so that you cannot stably sit in it especially when driving; (ii) when sitting in it, the inside circle of the ring is pressed down, causing the outside circle to squeeze your buttock, making my pain worse. The "Tush Cush" is made of soft foam, so the second problem with the ring still exists. So my experience is that you want to choose a cushion made of firm (if not hard) material. The memory foam that this product is made of is a right material: it is firm, yet slowly mold to your shape. However, sitting for a relatively long time, 30 min in my case, will make noticible pain. So my advice is to try to stand as often as you can if you have a broken coccyx like me.

I have a permanently bruised coccyx which aches after sitting too long, which means shifting positions, slouching, lots of Motrin, all that stuff. I was seriously looking into buying an expensive Aeron Chair when I decided to give this a try. I had used the "donut" pillows in the past with no satisfaction. This cushion works great. The heat sensitive foam forms to you when you sit on it, will reshape quickly anew when you get up, the cutout in the back is perfect for keeping pressure off the coccyx. I am very happy with the results I get and the quality of the cushion.
(as an update to this review, I started using a Herman Miller Mirra chair at work and after about 10 months I stopped using the cushion altogether as the coccyx no longer bothers me)

Sciatica relief!,
By
This review is from: Coccyx Cushion - Extra Soft - 16" x 13" x 3" to 1.5" (Health and Beauty)
Three years ago I was admitted to the ER with extreme sciatica. It was two months before I could even begin to sit upright. Were it not for this pillow, it would have been much longer before I could sit without tears streaming down my face. Three months after the injury, I was able to take a cross-country plane trip that included an hour car trip to attend a conference with a week's worth of sitting... along with pain meds and an ever-present ice pack... because I took this pillow with me.
Since then, I've gotten one for each vehicle and have one at my desk and at my sewing/crafts table. Three years later, I still have sciatic discomfort, and I believe it would be worse more often if I didn't use this support regularly. The angled design causes my pelvis to tilt in the proper way when I sit, and this has helped to strengthen those muscles to improve my posture comfortably and improve my endurance when I have to sit without the pillow. My mother-in-law broke her tailbone as a much younger woman and has had difficulty sitting for 45-50 years. She used one of my pillows for a few days and acted like she'd experienced a miracle! LOL! I had to get her one to get mine back for my computer chair! She recently took a bad fall and broke her femur near her hip and was confined to a wheelchair for two months. She says she doesn't think she'd have been able to endure it without her "butt pillow." Neither of us sit anywhere for very long without one under our tush. Don't "save money" by purchasing a cheaper product unless it has the viscous memory foam and the angled design... you probably won't be pleased. The non-memory foam pillows just don't offer the same support and it is the angled design that tilts your pelvis forward slightly, relieving additional pressure on the tailbone, that provides so much relieve from pain and pressure. If you have any sort of low back issues, I'd strongly recommend a product like this for any extended sitting... I couldn't believe how much longer I could sit after my injury when I brought this home... 2-3 times longer than without one. Which is why I've got them all over the place now! :-D If you have a "wider tush" search around for a product in a wider design, but be certain it is memory foam.

I notice that far over half the reviewers rated this a four-star or better, but several rated it very low. I can't keep from wondering if we're all rating the same cushion. Here's my experience:
There's a world of difference in coccyx cushions. I've had coccygodinia for probably 30 years. I designed my first coccyx cushion myself, before they were generally on the market, and made two of them. One was of 3" firm foam (for my office chair), and it was very helpful. The other was 1" softer foam (for my car), and it wasn't nearly as good. In the last 3 - 4 years, I've bought two from medical supply places. One is memory foam, and it was expensive (about $40, as I recall), and very helpful, but long rides in the car or using it on a hard chair still becomes uncomfortable after awhile. The other "bought" one was much cheaper (about $20, as I recall), and it is slightly above useless, but not by much. The lesson, to me, is that quality is always paramount to price, but especially so in coccyx cushions! Based on my experience, there may not be a "five star" on the market; but I think the memory foam is about as good as it gets; and the cheaper ones are a little better than none at all, but (again) not much better.

I have been experiencing tailbone pain again since losing weight (and losing my "natural cushion"). The pain had really grown intense due to a new job with quite a bit of travel involved. I now carry my coccyx cushion on the plane with me and use it in my rental cars for the entire trip. This is the best investment I could have made for myself.

Amazingly Comfortable and Perfect for Support,
By
This review is from: Coccyx Cushion - Extra Soft - 16" x 13" x 3" to 1.5" (Health and Beauty)
I bought this cushion for my hard, wood, computer/desk chair. Prior to my purchase, I had used a variety of other cushioning methods to add support for my lower back, including pillows, blankets, other portable cushions, and soft clothing. My lower back had ached all day, every day since I first sat in my chair, and had continued to bother me until the day I received my coccyx cushion. The moment I opened up, placed, and sat on my new cushion, I felt entirely relieved. This cushion is amazing. Honestly, it is quite possibly the best purchase I have ever made in my life. That is saying a lot for a cushion. I've had it for about a week now, and my back pain is gone, I no longer squirm in my seat, and I can remain focused on my tasks rather than on my chair.
My only quibble with the cushion is its ability to slide on the seat, and the lack of lumbar support. To fix this, I placed a fitness non-slip mat underneath it, and it hasn't moved since. I also purchased a lumbar support cushion, which I am less satisfied with. My recommendation to you is this: If you have lower back pain of any sort, constantly squirm in your chair, or if you work on a computer or at a desk for an extended period of time, buy this cushion. There is no question in its value to you if you meet any of those criteria. The price is right, the shipping is lightning fast, and the company is trustworthy. I highly recommend this product.

Inferior Product,
This review is from: Coccyx Cushion - Extra Soft - 16" x 13" x 3" to 1.5" (Health and Beauty)
Workmanship, materials and customer service are much less than should be expected. I bought this upgraded version with "memory" foam, and it is like sitting on nothing. There is none of the heralded spinal support. Had some trouble returning it, still after a month don't have a credit for it. I previously had a TUSH CUSH which was good and just bought another which is GREAT. Can't say enough good about the TushCush, and can't say anything good about the Allegro cushion.

I ordered this cushion recently for my chair at work and have been very pleased so far. I sit for 7-8hrs. a day at a microscope and was having trouble with my legs and (....) going numb by the end of the day. This cushion allows me to sit comfortably at my desk all day without pain. I would highly recommend this product for anyone who sits for long periods of time.
