Entertaining Canadian Group,
By Walker (Calgary, AB Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cock On (Audio CD)
This album was released in 1972. It was initially censored due to it's title "C*ck On!" and issued as "... On!" The CD was reissued with the original cover art (on the inside). It depicts the group posing naked but for sunglasses and a 'tuck in'. The Song 'C*ck On' was later recorded by Goddo, Greg Godovitz having been the bass player for Fludd. Anyway, about the music... The group is Canadian but the singers Ed and Brian Pilling were originally from England. The Canadian members affected that sound so they sound like an English pop band of the era. The songs are 'AM Gold' sounding and very listenable. The messages tend to be simple and trivial, but the music is entertaining nonetheless. You feel good listening to this album because it is old pop music with generally happy themes. The song "Cousin Mary" was perhaps their greatest hit single is still played on the radio today, a testament to the timelessness of this classic album.

One of the Best of Canadian Rock,
By
This review is from: Cock On (Audio CD)
This is one of the best Canadian Rock bands from the '70s. They were on par talent wise with the Guess Who, April Wine, and Heart of the '70s. Unfortunately did not get the exposure they deserved or needed to make it to the same level as these famous bands. I remember the first time I listened to this album which I inherited from my Older brother. I had no idea who they were and immediately with the very first song fell in love with this album. Could listen to it for hours and did! Some of the best money you will spend on an unknown band - you will never regret it!! JK

A Lost Gem Gets Another Chance To Shine,
By James Hill (Toronto, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cock On (Audio CD)
Fludd, spearheaded by songwriting brothers Brian & Ed Pilling were one of Canada's best kept secrets. Filled with well produced radio friendly songs, this, their sophomore recording will appeal to those who are fans of The Beatles, T-Rex, Sweet, etc. Songs such as "C'mon C'mon", "Home-Made Lady", "Yes!", & "Ticket to Nowhere", showcase FLUDD's tight harmonies, with Brian & Ed sharing lead vocals & of course Brian's wonderful, underrated guitar playing. It's an excellent CD from a band that didn't quite get the success they richly deserved. They were also a first class live act. Enjoy!
