Concertina-folded and boxed. 86 color photographs. With essays by Peter Nagy and Adhipen Bose.

It's an art of noisy extremes, a volcanic eruption of creativity -- and all this, of course, before you even light the blue touch paper. Printed on boards in concertina form and packed in original fireworks boxes, this brilliantly original book celebrates a unique graphic language where understatement is suicidal, excess equals success and sheer spectacle is everything.

Not a dud in the bunch!,

This review is from: Cock: Indian Firework Art (Hardcover)
India won my heart during a visit two years ago; my wife won it for India all over again with a gift of this wonderful collection.
The art is taken from Indian fireworks packages. It comes as a fold-out, two-sided continuous 20 foot fan made of heavy coated cardboard. There are many subjects: religious scenes, medieval knights, contemporary tanks and other military equipment, Bollywood starlets, hunters and wild animals, strongmen, holy men and circus scenes. Exuberant, lively, always garish -- a joy. And, it's an education on what sells fireworks in that fascinating country. Robert C. Ross 2008
