Brillaint,
By nhgmcbear "Woof (wink)" (manchester, nh) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cock Robin (Audio CD)
Peter Kingsbury and Anna LaCazio were the brilliant songwriters and singers behind Cock Robin. As I grow older, I am begining to figure out that Americans like prepackaged fodder. By that, I mean we like our Kraft Mac and Cheese, our Hot Pockets with Cheese, and Brittany Spears (another cheese reference?)
What makes Cock Robin stand out is they are true craftspeople working in a medium called music. Brilliant songwriters, the songs contained on this album are catchy, winsome and most of all solid. With Cock Robin, is always about the voices. Peter and Anna can sing. Peter Kingsbury exudes passion in everything he speaks of and Anna (who gloriously mattures into a ture singer on later records) shows an enthusiam for her vocals and we begin to see what she is capaple of. Standouts on the album are When Your Heart is Weak, in my mind one of the best 20 songs of the decade. Beautifully written it speaks of patience and realizing your mistakes and The Promise You Made (this song has HUGE in Eurpoe) a beautifully written single sung by both Peter and Anna. Cock Robin is not Duran Duran, Cock Robin is more like a great wine. You sip and enjoy each drop, and are better for the experience. If you have never listened to a Cock Robin album, do yourself a favor and try this. There are several Greatest Hit packages out there (and for a ture treat, find a copy of First Love, Last Rites). Better yet, Peter Kingsbury has several solo albums available on import. I love this band, I love Peter and Anna and The Promise was made and dutifully kept.

When Your Heart Is Weak,
By Diane "Diane" (Pasadena, CA) - See all my reviews

I know this sounds crazy but, in the mid-80's I heard "When Your Heart Is Weak" only a time or 2, but could never get it out of my mind. It haunted me for years. Fast foward 22 years ... walking into a Champagne-Caviar bar at the Ferry Building in San Francisco ... this song is playing!!! It took my breath away!! The bar tender was gracious enough to show me the cut on the "Excellent 80's" CD set. If you can remember a song you hear only a few times after more than 25 years... that's what I call talent! I am sorry to say that the U.S. was deprived of not having been exposed to this band as much as "Duran Duran". Our loss, Anna La Cazio and Peter Kingsberry!!! You are a classic!!!

I love Cock Robin. I'm confused as to why they never got more popular. They are truely talented. Almost every song on this cd is really good.

This is one of those CD's that never leaves your conscience. The music is mature and well done. I wore out the last CD and lost it in the last 10 years so I'm getting the replacement. Great music that to me is timeless.

This is one of my favorite CDs of all time. Although I don't normally favor electronic soft rock music, the emotion expressed in this CD is exceptional and compelling.

It was too bad more Americans could not get into Cock Robin. I lived in England when this album came out, and they were all the buzz. They had won best new rock/pop act that year in Europe (1988), and were continuously on Top of the Pops. I have a CD collection of about 600, and this is one of my favorites. It always has a permanent place in my CD changer. Buy this Cock Robin debut, you won't regret it!
