Great cocktail book.. Easy to use and read, June 13, 2011
This review is from: Cocktail Handbook (Paperback)
Found this book awhile ago and decided to buy it for my brother in law. The book is divided by spirit and has multiple recipes for each.
Every drink explains the background and includes a picture. Overall very easy to use.
Has all the classics plus some other not so well knowns. Recommend for anybody wanting to learn the basics of making cocktails.

A cocktail book's travels, November 18, 2010
This review is from: Cocktail Handbook (Paperback)
My broken spine, well thumbed copy has traveled across continents with me the past few years - always a source of inspiration with the drinks and the tidbits of history it imparts to the drinks. Trying recipes randomly and then returning to experiment with the variations in the side margin has kept me coming back to this fantastic book.
Bought in Ireland, it was not until visiting Barcelona that the book came into its own. Over the week concoctions were brewed and sampled with favorites being flicked back to. Attempting the pina colada with the home made coconut cream did not work out but the effort was applauded.
The book stuck with me in college and picked up many stains from overenthusiastic bartenders at home and during later travels from Czech Republic to Poland and down to Hungary. Coming to Galway was the handbook's finest time with much flicking back and fourth culminating in an over the top cocktail party - mixers and the book provided, you and your poison were all that were required.
Travel to the US has certainly seen the book in the same old situations, though the nights have just become worse. Inspiration for a bar and then a second, the path of destruction that was resulted has not reached a conclusion yet.
