No Special Effects!,

No Special Effects! No over-dubbing voices to fatten the sound. No digital electronic vocal processing! Just a lot of hard work, hours of rehearsal and smooth voices with that magical family blend! When you have it completely worked out before you go into the studio to record, all you need to do is nail that one good take. Then it's completely finished. No post production tricks, just those "Live" performances and great arrangements on tape. This collection is a fine example of why I love the music of the 40's.It's fun! It SWINGS!

One of the best $10 I ever spent. No bells & whistles or special frills on this dual disc set. Just pure plain swingin' fun. I purchased this set many years ago, probably around a year or so after it was first released, and purchased it on sale in a store at the time. Kinda wished that the Cocktail hour people would have maybe tried to do more compilations of the sisters and other various artists they did several years ago.
I'm usually one who's fairly skeptical of delving into various cd's not knowing what I could be getting completely on a cd or a set. I'm wonderfully pleased with pretty much all of Cocktail hours selections on this and a couple of other sets I've purchased of theirs years ago. I'm actually reintroducing myself to various kinds of music I've had for years. In fact one of these discs was actually stuck in the CD player in my car I think for a few years. The player had stopped working one summmer, and when I'd put the face plate on my player in the car it simply wasn't turning on anymore with one of these discs still in it. I wondered if I'd ever get it out. Not to mention listen to much music for a while, considering that I'd say about 90% of the time I ever listened to anything was in my car. Having pretty much deprived myself of most of my music selections I'm happy to say that it's back on the air (as it were) for me. I recently picked up a decently priced MP3 player for the very first time and was finally motivated to going through my couple of hundred CD's and start picking out all my fav's all over again. I also was motivated to getting around to pulling out my CD player in my car, and worked hard for at least an hour or two trying to carefully unscrew and pull apart the player and retrieve my sorely missed Andrew sisters CD I hadn't been able to listen to for a few years. Now that I have an MP3 player I'm getting familar with my music all over again, and getting interests in picking and choosing all the songs I may have ever wanted over the years. At least now I can more easily pick and choose the songs I want, and not have to worry so much about picking up entire CD's for just a handful of songs I'd only listen to, or even a few occasions I've purchased CD's many, many years ago for only one song. It's nice to have that option more readily available to you, or not have to bother other friends or family to borrow CD's they may have that had the few songs I'd be looking for to make up my own compilations.
