4.0 out of 5 stars Geat Material, Flawed Package, October 25, 2007
This review is from: Cocktail Hour (Audio CD)
I love Dorothy Lamour. I thought that this 2-disc set would be a great way to get a hold of her more popular material. The quality is pretty decent and the material is great. The one problem I have with this CD set is that the first disc has a pretty big flaw on it. There are only 15 tracks not sixteen. And that wouldn't be such a big problem if they didn't repeat one song over again on accident. So really there are only 14 tracks on the first disc. Here is the actual track listing for the first disc:

01. I'm All A-Tremble over You
02. Paradise
03. Your Kiss
04. I Gotta Right to Sing the Blues
05. Moon of Manakoora
06. Thanks for the Memory
07. Tonight Will Live
08. That Sentimental Sandwich
09. Palms of Paradise
10. You Took the Words Right Out of My Heart
11. Man I Love
12. You Took the Words Right Out of My Heart
13. Little Lady Make-Believe
14. This Is the Beginning of the End
15. Lovelight in the Starlight

I feel like they needed to take more care when putting the CD together. But other than that there are some really great songs on here worth checking out.

Dorothy Lamour was a true Hollywood original who began her career as a singer but found true success as an actress. However the studios were loathe to let that romantic singing voice of hers go to waste.
On this fabulous double album you'll find a comprehensive collection of some of the best songs Dottie was to croon her way through in those unforgettable movie moments. As a fan of music and movies from the 40's and 50's I find this album particularly evocative of the spirit of that great era. Highly recommended to those with similar tastes.
