5.0 out of 5 stars AH MAURICE!
It's always a pleasure to celebrate MOMO who made so many people aware of the FRENCH culture throughout the world. This collection is wonderful;most of it is a reminicence of MAURICE's early years in HOLLYWOOD 1928-1935.It is interesting to notice that many songs here were recorded also in FRENCH.Such is the case with MY LOVE PARADE(mon cocktail d'amour),PARIS,STAY THE...

1.0 out of 5 stars Great old-time singer, HORRIBLE CD! Do not buy!!!
HOLY SMOKES! Had I known how BAD this CD was going to be, I would have used ear plugs!

I don't really blame those who have reviewed this CD before me, but maybe they have not heard Maurice Chevalier at his best. This is the WORST DRIVEL I have EVER had the displeasure of listening to! What's that I hear? STATIC!!! ON THIS CD!!!!! Jeez, give me a break...

OK, I know this is the old stuff, but the Maurice Chevalier music I remember growing up with was MUCH better than this, and I'm talking listening to a 30 year-old LP Album, not a CD!

I suspect that the Producers of this CD wanted to save on paying ROYALTIES to the owners of the BETTER material. I'm guessing that this stuff is "Public Domain", and was free for the Producers to release. So for the cost of a dime to produce, they're raking in close to fifteen dollars when people buy.

DEMAND THE GOOD STUFF and pass on this! Save your money!

NOT! I KNOW WHY!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not released 2000, August 17, 2000

OK, the blurb up there says "released 2000." That's for the *CD* which is an aurally cleaned up version of stuff from the 30s and 40s. This is an old record, but a very good one. Chevalier's voice has a perpetual smile, and his accent on classics like "Walkin My Baby Back Home" is something you won't hear from the current swing-era-clone bands. Listening to Chevalier, I feel good. I suspect you will too.
