Biography

E-Rotic is a true Eurodance group with a unique repertoire that has found it's home in the hearts of many die-hard fans.

E-Rotic has gone through a few changes from their origin. The group started as Lyane Leigh and Raz-Ma-Taz (Richard Michael Smith), then became Jeanette Christensen and Rapper Terence d'Arby and then morphed into Yasemin Baysal and Ché Jouaner. 5.0 out of 5 stars E-Rotic at their danciest, May 2, 2004

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Cocktail (Audio CD)
As die hard fans know, E-Rotic has released over 10 original albums since the debut of their first single in 1994, "Max Don't Have Sex With Your Ex". Since then, E-Rotic has taken the world of Eurodance by storm with their unusual blend of uplifting melodies and utterly blunt sexual lyrics. In addition to their original albums, the group has released many singles, 3 "Best Of" albums, and a Trance remix album of all of their greatest hits. However, I found that with each album they have released, there have always been at least 2 tracks I have habitually skipped, either because they experimented with a reggae beat or because they tried to pull off a ballad. I was pleased and refreshed to discover, on the contrary, that there was only one track on this entire CD I did not like, track 13. Although this one was a bit toned down in sexual content, it certainly renewed the stagnant genre that is Eurodance.
1. Lemmings On The Run - The first track takes listeners back to the album "Sexual Healing". With the rough, club-esque synth, similar beat loops, and serious lyrics, this song recalls a more recent part of E-Rotic's long history.
2. I Feel Your Heartbeat - With such an angelic and bubbly melody, "I Feel Your Heartbeat" is a fast-paced, dreamy piece of Euro ecstasy.
3. Rave Me Dave - Containing a synth line similar to "Sex On The Phone" and having drum loops similar to songs from their last original album, "Sex Generation", this track sends off a strong vibe of sensuality.
4. I'm Over You - Another track that demonstrates E-Rotic's new sound is "I'm Over You". With an unfamiliar synth patch, drum loops, and even new subject matter in their lyrics, it will turn your ears on to their new techniques.
5. Cocktail d'Erotique - This track has a synth patch similar to the previous track. "Cocktail d'Erotique" is the focal point of the album as well as the best example to demonstrate as E-Rotic's new sound.
6. Kiss My Lips - One song that the lead singer, Lydia, admits to be able to relate to. This song has a medium tempo and an interesting synth line. The bass line almost makes it sound like House music fused together with Eurodance.
7. Latin Lover - "Latin Lover" was a lot like E-Rotic's last Latin song, "Mi Amante". The lyrics, loops, and synth line are very much like it. Because of the annoying synth patch, however, this track was not one of my favorites.
8. Heartbreaker - "Heartbreaker" is a much treasured song because we get to hear E-Rotic's Dance style! When I say Dance, I mean the type of song you would hear on American Top-40 radio in 1996.
9. Gimme Your Jimmy - "Gimme Your Jimmy" is an E-Rotic classic. With all out sexual lyrics mixed in with E-Rotic's new style, this track's vibration is similar to that of "Rave Me Dave".
10. Don't You See The Light - This track is a very Trance-induced form of Eurodance. David mainly sings in this piece with Lydia as backup.
11. Dangerous Kiss - "Kiss My Lips" and "Dangerous Kiss" are very much alike. The way they begin, end, and everything in between are very much the same.
12. Is That The Way You Are? - "Is That The Way You Are?" is another high speed Eurodance track. This song has another dreamy vibe that makes listeners want to sing along.
13. Bolero - The sole track on "Cocktail E-Rotic" I did not like. The slow, Spanish ballad is very boring and unlike E-Rotic's popular sound.
14. Lemmings On The Run (Extended Version) - To put it in the simplest form, this track is just a progressive form of track 1. It starts with a muffled drum loop and eventually builds up and breaks down. Poor mixing, however.
15. I'm Over You (Extended Version) - I felt the extended version of track 4 started too fast. There wasn't enough progression.
16. Gimme Your Jimmy (Extended Version) - This is the best extended track. There's an awesome part of the song with just the bass beat and bass line playing.
Basically, if anyone is going to buy only one E-Rotic album in the course of their career, this one should be it.
