4.0 out of 5 stars Grunge + Lounge = interesting
Hey i have been a hardcore nirvana fan since i first heard come as you are on the radio back in the early nineties. I also am very eclectic in my musical tastes...when i first heard this cd i was kind of awestruck. i didnt know what to think. After i heard the cd a couple times i loved it...its nirvanas tunes to an upbeat jazz rythem. I have seen other reviews of...

2.0 out of 5 stars u missed the point...
The two other reviewers completely missed the point of this. "This compilation is an insult to everything Nirvana stood for, and completely misses the point of the entire grunge movement. If you can't deal with the harsh rock sound, go pick up a Kenny G album because Nirvana is not for you." This is a cd for the true nirvana fan with a sense of humor (like my...

I have seen other reviews of people nocking this cd, i say listen to the clips, and have an open mind. Kurt and nirvana were all about change and new styles...i think he would have liked this. BTW that song Where did you sleep last night was a remake of leadbellys song from the late 1890s.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not something to be dismissed, December 13, 2009
This review is from: The Cocktail Tribute to Nirvana (Audio CD)
It's rather fascinating to take something so raw and angry and distill it into a jazzy song. It's not altogether that bad either. I mean, let's not kid ourselves, it's not the perfect album, but it does contain a lot of interesting interpretations of Nirvana classics, and it shouldn't be dismissed just because it's not the world's most faithful interpretation of Nirvana.

4.0 out of 5 stars the reason you do not know why it is good...., February 15, 2003
This review is from: The Cocktail Tribute to Nirvana (Audio CD)
An insult to everything Nirvana stood for? tell me, what did nirvana stand for? they stood for a new sound and a way of coming away from the crowd. hence grunge. this is exactly what this cd does. it is "NEW" way of having a live and unplugged album but with the jazz feel. and the reason people say it is bad, is because they can not understand jazz. and it is their loss not ours.

If you can't deal with the harsh rock sound, go pick up a Kenny G album because Nirvana is not for you." This is a cd for the true nirvana fan with a sense of humor (like my Ramones tribute cd done by japanese bands). It's obivously not looking to replace your old nirvana cd's, it's just a way to look at them differently. Also, it can come in handy when you want to give granma something to listen.

I bought this album as a joke after hearing clips on the internet and immediately regretted it. It makes me sick and I've been trying to sell it ever since

4.0 out of 5 stars Terrific!, January 18, 2002

This album is great. Perfect when you like Nirvana but sometimes don't want to deal with the harsh rock sound. Debbie from The Januaries lends her voice along with many others to round out the instrumentals...

What a HORRIBLE idea! This compilation is an insult to everything Nirvana stood for, and completely misses the point of the entire grunge movement. If you can't deal with the harsh rock sound, go pick up a Kenny G album because Nirvana is not for you. I'm appalled that anyone would even consider buying this.
