Editorial Reviews

Caveman was born in New York in January of 2010, when a group of friends decided it was time to put aside their boyhood ways and start being men. The sound they crafted in that large, dark room is equal parts chamber pop, dreamscape, and horror film score. At a Caveman show you will hear fourpart harmonies, spaced-out guitars, synths, and, yes, much drumming. For Coco Beware, they went into the Loveboat studio with Nick Stumpf (French Kicks) to commit their songs to record.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic New Band. Needs to be heard. December 7, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
These guys sound (I think) like Arcade Fire with a bit more echo. I like their music and hope they succeed. I caught and flagged on their music on a sampler and bought the CD. I think their music is very clever. Not often does a new band arrive that takes hold of me like this, give them a try.

Brooklyn band plays hypnotic, flowing indie pop with a gently soaring feel; calming melodies with
a subtle tug of pop power colored by ethnic rhythms, experimental psychedelic ambience and a
sweet, haunting appeal. Like a mix of the Shins, Wild Nothing, Fleet Foxes, Animal Collective.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dreamy psychedelic Brooklyncore May 17, 2012
Format:Audio CD
I am totally hooked on this CD. If Win Butler from Arcade Fire and Ed Droste from Grizzly Bear had a kid, he or she would make an album like this. Every song has its hooky bits. Improves on multiple listenings. Now I just need to pry it out of the CD player.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shoegaze Music is Alive and Well in 2012 March 11, 2013
Format:Audio CD
I first heard this band (and the songs off this album) at SXSW in 2012. It was the best band I saw all week. If you've been to SXSW, you know that's quite a feat due to the number of shows and talent that's on display. I was actually at the venue to see another band, but just happened to catch "the cave" beforehand. I was glad I did. For me it's rare to really enjoy something wholeheartedly that I've never heard before.

One caveat: I don't think the album lives up to the live experience which sounds richer and deeper. Nonetheless, it's still worthy of 5 stars in my opinion. I'd give the live show 6 stars. Really excited for the new record in April. I hope this band takes off.
