From School Library Journal
PreSchool-Grade 2–Four-line rhymes touch on one event or activity for each month of the year. Some of the selections are obvious–New Years Day, Valentines Day, St. Patricks Day. Other holidays, like the Fourth of July, are not included. Julys verse is about Magic Camp. Decembers verse is not holiday specific, but the picture has both a Christmas tree and a menorah in the window. The photo illustrations of pompon chicks posed in miniature sets provide more interest than the text. Young readers will enjoy finding small objects and details, but they will likely miss the picture story and the humor. The verses are not particularly clever. On Saint Patricks we march in the yearly parade./Theres music and dancing and green lemonade./I walk down the street with my whole Girl Scout troop./It would have been fun, had I not slipped in poop. The brief rhymes and appealing illustrations seem to indicate a good choice for preschoolers. Unfortunately, the book does not live up to these expectations.

Review
"Whimsical verses and crisp, vibrant photography present readers with a seasonal serving of Coco's antics. Each month of the calendar year is treated to jaunty rhymes extolling the virtues of that month--as perceived by a spunky young chicken…Unabashedly goofy, Tanen's rollicking tale of chicken-infused hilarity is good fun and a refreshing take on the seasonal holidays." --Kirkus Reviews
"Come on a yearlong journey with fluffy little Coco, a yellow chick who never fails to enchant and entertain in this delightful and eye-pleasing book. Little chicken Coco moves through each month accompanied by cute descriptive verse and hilarious photographed settings that create a playful book children will want to read again and again (my son made me read it three times in one sitting)… Filled with whimsy, humor and just plain good fun, Coco All Year Round not only teaches kids the months of the year but does so with laugh-out-loud text and images they will want to experience all year long." --curledup.com
