1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed! June 24, 2012
By Theresa
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
As another reviewer stated, this has 5 basic recipes in it, and the other 31 are varieties of each (for example, substituting blueberries for strawberries, or garlic for onions). Not even pictures of the dishes (I purchased a kindle version - maybe the paper one does?). I wanted the 5 basic recipes, and was hoping the pic on the cover would be one of them. I didn't even see that one. Save yourself the 3.99 and put it toward a better book.

I'd be willing more than just a handful of people have purchased this book, but only a brave few have stepped out with a review - the others are probably embarrassed to have been 'taken' by this author and publisher (who should be ashamed of themselves).

Yes, I got "taken" too, but I'm posting my review to warn the rest of you to steer clear. The basic recipes can be found for nothing at numerous websites, then just add your fruit or flavor of choice to suit yourself.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible! October 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I borrowed this book from the Kindle library (prime member) and I'm sorry to have wasted my monthly free borrowing privilege on this!

First of all, the first four chapters are just explanations of what is a gluten-free diet. Nice information. But it doesn't belong in a cookbook. This information is available for free in countless websites on the internet.

I tried to make the pancakes. First of all, the ratio of 3 cups of coconut flour to 5 eggs yields a very dry, hard ball, nothing like the consistency of pancake batter. A reasonable ratio of coconut flour to eggs, as I found in a free online recipe, is 1/2 cup of coconut flour to 4 eggs. If I may share that recipe, here it is: [...]

It is also full of other mistakes. For example, in the recipe for Banana Coconut muffins, it says: Serving size (8 portions). What on earth does that mean? the serving size is eight muffins???? Ridiculous! and I could go on.

Bottom line, don't bother with this one. There's got to be better coconut flour cookbooks out there.

1.0 out of 5 stars Misleading and disappointing June 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Honestly? I'm disappointed that there weren't nearly 36 original and "irresistable" baked recipes in this book. In fact, 28 of the recipes were variations on only 5 kinds of baked goods: crepes, crackers, pancakes, muffins and cakes. Once I had her base recipe for each of the 5 main recipe types, I could have come up with her very minor variations on my own.

Also, the author needs to review her recipe instructions -- I found many factual and grammatical errors. For instance, the "Meat Crepes" does not list cardamom in the ingredient list. but then references its use in the method/instructions for the recipe.

If you are looking for a good coconut flour recipe book, I have had success with these two: Bruce Fife's "Cooking with Coconut Flour" (more expensive) and Marissa Paine's "20 Incredible Coconut Flour Recipes" (inexpensive).
