I slip this thing in and out of my briefcase three to four times a day, sometimes its charger, my leatherman, a spare set of headphones for wife. All of a sudden all of my little extras have a home, and it has impacted my life in a significant way. My hair has gotten thicker, and more luscious since I bought his product, it is that good.

For a while I had a portable hard drive in the middle of it (2.5" 1TB), and it held in there day in and day out. It had to make way for things like scissors, and a mini-stapler. man i love that mini-stapler.

If you want to get organized, buy this product. At the very least you will look the part.

I'm a knitter and usually the first ten minutes of knit time is spent untangling balls of yarn from each other. Now I can slip the yarn project, needles, cable needles, pencils, instructions, and what-have-you into the cocoon. Now when I sit down to knit all I have to do is pull out the cocoon and I'm ready to start knitting. Yay!

After reading a review I wasn't sure if this thing was going to workout, but I threw the dice. I must say I am happy with my purchase. I put all stuff that was in the various pockets of my backpack in/on the Cocoon and it slides right in the notebook slot in the pack. Big question when originally ordering was what size to get. The 12x8 is a good size to start with.

I carry a pretty big backpack and used to carry stuff loose - not any more! To this day I've bought three of these and they all get good use. My bands have not worn out on large or small items that have been gridded for around a year.

Excellent buy - fun for the tinkerers and people like me who are constantly looking for new ways to carry more stuff.

I bought this thinking it would be a light weight method of carrying all the wires I have. I travel a lot so I have a laptop, GPS, Blackberry and an external mouse device for presentations. The Grid It did a fine job of holding all of the equipment I carry. It was however, heavier than I expected. The reason I am rating it only one STAR is because I have had it for only a month and the zipper pouch on the back of the Grid It ripped open at the bottom. The only thing I had in there were 4 little thumb drives. I nearly lost them in the rental car when they all fell out. I will be returning the product. My suggestion for the product is to forget about the zipper on the back and just simply enclose the whole thing. That way items would stay in place with the rubber straps and anything small can be enclosed as well.

Very useful organizational item. I would buy more as needed. I use one in my briefcase and one with my laptop. Only minor drawback would be zippered pouch on back- a bit flimsy so don't overload.

This GridIt system finally gives me the perfect organizer, where each "pocket" is perfectly shaped for my stuff.

I carry a lot of different gadgets with me - right now on here is a wireless bluetooth keyboard, BiuMaxx flasslight, Swiss Army knife, 7 day pill case, tape measure, glasses case, toiletries bag (with shampoo, 2 contact cases, mirror, Deodorant, and super glue.

The elastic bands have grippy rubber on them that holds the stuff in, but is easy to slide stuff out of.

They're expensive, but I already have all the stuff I need: Now I just need a way to organize it. And this is it. I'm going to buy more.

This is a wonderful size, incredibly versatile organizer that seriously has me asking, "Where have you been all my life?!" That said, I'd like to point out two things that I haven't seen mentioned: First, a major plus, it's a fairly rigid piece. I was going to put it in my soft EDC bag and worried there would be a lack of rigidity in the bag. Nope. It's not steel-plate rigid, but it's far better than I expected.
The only downside I can find so far is the smell. It's a fairly strong rubbery/plastic smell. Hope it wears off, but even if it doesn't it's not a deal breaker for me. Just wanted to mention it because I know for some that IS a deal breaker.

This product is a very clever and useful item making organization simple and easy. Instead of having a pile of crap I have to sort through in my laptop case, I can now pull this out and take off what I need, instead of digging for gold everytime I need something. The size is perfect for my laptop bag, they have several sizes so be sure to measure and make sure of the size you need. My one piece of advice is make sure the items you put on here are TIGHT, it took me a while to realize the items have to be super tight or they get knocked off as you are taking the coccoon in and out of the bag. I was trying to be careful not to break the bands but don't worry they will take it, just get it tight!

This little beauty might just have saved my sanity! After years of trying to coil and recoil my wires tightly enough to stay organized in my backpack, the Cocoon GRID-IT, discovered after a recommendation from Andy Ihnatko on "This Week in Tech," has totally solved the problem? Not only will it keep the cables from getting tangled, it makes it MUCH easier to find what you're looking for! Rather than dig around and try to identify what you need by feel, you can slide out the GRID-IT, look once and grab what you need. It also allows you to take full advantage of the height of the pocket you're storing cables in!

Highly recommended for anyone carrying gadgets, gizmos or geegaws!
