I purchased this particular GRID-IT organizer based on simply fitting it into a pocket on a new laptop case. I had not thought about what to put in it, and when I got it, I started out with a blank mind. It was not until the next day that it occurred to me. I have been carrying a small box of parts, and decided to see if I could put them all on this grid. Well it worked, so far I have a USB to PS/2 and a PS/2 to USB connector, a DVI to VGA connector, a 1/4" to 3.5mm TRS jack, a S-Vid to RCA jack,, and two memory sticks on the thing. I had a miniHDMI to HDMI connector, but the connector itself broke in a badly laid out card. Throw in two flash drives, and I still have a good third left over to add any more stuff I find laying about.

This particular organizer does not have any attached loops for hanging it is just flat on the back.

I'm using this as an organizer for my car's center console. When I opened it I knew right away it would be to small, that's my fault so I ordered the 10.25 by 7.5 and it has been amazing, so whatever you do when you're ordering one of these order one size bigger because you will undershoot your estimate.

I recently purchased three of these in various sizes to get my laptop bag and my suitcase better organized. The idea is fantastic, and in theory this is a great way of doing it. In reality, this is a frustrating gadget at best. The smallest (7x5) is essentially useless. There are two or three usable loops on there, but the rest are too small or too closely spaced with the next one. None of them are big enough for a regular-sized mouse, and for cables, velcro is a much better option than this. Once you use it a few times, it refuses to stay flat. Useless... but has potential if it could be improved -- make it more rigid, make the loop sizes adjustable, etc.

Intended this for my "cords and stuff" -- but quickly ran out of room - so changing it to my "cosmetics and stuff" and getting a bigger one for my "cords and stuff" -- either way, it's lovely not having all these things at the bottom of the bag, tangling up. I'm glad I found out about these. I am able to keep my backpack much less cluttered by putting my electronic items in it.
You're probably not going to be able to use every inch of the thing unless, by coincidence, you have just a collection of items that complement each other in size and shape in such a way as to all fit on this grid.
