5.0 out of 5 stars The answer to my organizational issues...
I have tried every type of bag configuration for handling my wires on the road. The were all a mess - too bulky, hard to find stuff, etc. etc... This baby is the answer. You can see everything, nothing gets tangled, instant access. It takes a moment longer to store stuff away but it is worth it. 3.0 out of 5 stars clever, but not so useful
The idea is really great, to keep cords and gadgets and things, but I found that i had to put the whole thing into a bag anyway (so that the aforementioned cords and gadgets didn't get snagged on other things). I'm going back to just having a little bag for cords, since this takes up a fixed amount of space, and I don't really need my cords to be kept rigid.

You can see everything, nothing gets tangled, instant access. It takes a moment longer to store stuff away but it is worth it. I use this to carry: iphone headphones (in zipper pocket) iphone computer cord, logitech presentation remote, jawbone charger cable, retractable ethernet cable, mac micro dvi adapter, kindle cable. I use a separate net back to hold the wall piece for the kindle and iphone plus a car adapter. Good to go...

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant organization, January 4, 2011
This review is from: Cocoon CPG5BK GRID-IT Organizer, 10.25 x 5.125 Inch, Black (Personal Computers)
I used this on a recent trip and it was awesome! It held my ipod, lip balm, travel bottle of tylenol, hand cream, pack of gum, ear phones, and the back has a flat zipper where I slipped my id and credit card. I slid it from carryon luggage to sight seeing backpack to going out at night purse, tucked it next to me during flights and always had the essentials at hand, nothing rolling around getting lost. Superb orga

I wish I would have purchased the larger one, but I love the design and functionality of this product! It holds everything tightly in place and even has a little flat zippered pocket on the back.
Definitely met my expectations.

5.0 out of 5 stars This has solved a LOT of issues for me, April 18, 2011
This review is from: Cocoon CPG5BK GRID-IT Organizer, 10.25 x 5.125 Inch, Black (Personal Computers)
I sometimes left the house without my cell because I put it on the nightstand by the bed at night and then forgot to go get it. Another issue I had was rummaging in my purse for a pen and paper while driving if I needed to write something down. Same for chapstick - rummaging in your purse while driving isn't really safe.

When I get in the car each morning I set this 10" x 5" grid across the area where the gear shift is. I can shift from Park to Reverse to Drive without it getting in the way. On the back side of the grid (where the zipper is) I put a few pieces of adhesive velcro tape so I could make my small month-at-a-time calendar stick there (I use a mini size black binder clip to hold the calendar closed). I placed it in such a way so as to not block the zipper. In addition to the phone, my grid holds a set of lined cards (that I got from Levenger), a pen, chap stick, and a pkg of gum. Inside the zippered pocket on the back are lined 3M sticky note things, stamps and a PAPER measuring tape I was given free at a furniture store.

Now I keep my (old fashioned, not a bigger smart phone) cell phone (while at work, or in the car, or when going to bed) either strapped into the grid, or sitting on top of it so I never leave home or work without it. I can easily write things down while driving because the note cards and the pen are right there.

I attached a clip to the little hoop at one end of the grid so I can attach the access card that I have to use to enter the parking garage and my office suite at work. That's one MORE item I no longer have to rummage in my purse to find.

Once I get to work, I set the grid on the computer monitor stand with my car keys so I can't leave work without it. This also puts my cell phone within easy reach. If I think of any non-work things to add to my to-do list while at work, I can just pull out one of the note cards and write the item on it and put it back in it's place in the grid.

A larger size would hold more things, but would not fit into my purses. A larger one WOULD fit into my briefcase but not across the gear shift area of the car. Also, I'd still need this small one for my purse on weekends when I'm not carrying my briefcase and that would result in too many decisions to be made about what item to put on what grid - OR moving things back and forth from the small grid to the large grid.

UPDATE: I finally found something to slide this grid into before putting it into my briefcase - the note cards and other things on my grid can snag other items in my briefcase when trying to put it in the briefcase when leaving the car at work, or when leaving the office to go to the car. Today I bought this netbook sleeve made by Built Built NY 12" Black Laptop Sleeve Because I store my cell phone on one end of the grid, I wanted something with an open end so I can slide the grid into it with the cell phone end last/at the top, where I can reach the cell phone easily. It's a little bigger than I needed, but it works and was inexpensive.

5.0 out of 5 stars The world's largest, most awesome key fob, December 16, 2010

I absolutely would not recommend purchasing this particular GRID-IT if your goal is to store more than three portable tech pieces. However, if you're in need of some serious purse, handbag, or backpack consolidation, then this item is invaluable!

I'm currently using mine to hold hand cream, two lip glosses, a pen, a hairbrush compact, and several hair bands along with my phone. The back zippered pocket is the perfect size to transport standard sized envelopes, receipts, coupons and other assorted slim profile ephemera. I've also attached my key ring to the small cloth side loop, so now whenever I want to change purses all I have to do is grab the GRID-IT and my wallet, and I'm good to go. No more digging around in tons of little pockets and scouring the depths of seemingly bottomless messenger bags only to realize several hours later that I've still managed to forget something tiny but vital!

The scant amount of time I'll have to sacrifice securing items to this board and sliding them back out is nothing compared to the cumulative hours I've probably wasted doing the frenzied last minute don't-forget-this-or-that chicken dance heading out the door. This thing is solid, handy, and undeniably neat looking (and keeping, to boot). I picked up the 12x8" version to transport business cards, badges, pencils, brushes and other art supplies for when I'm attending comic conventions, and the larger size will definitely offer a much wider range of specialized versatility. For everyday use, though? This little guy can't be beat.

I saw these on another website and thought they would be good for organizing the backpack I take to work every day. I work in IT, so I have all kinds of cables, chargers, tools, etc. just floating around randomly in there. I went with the 10x5-inch model, since I thought that was a good size to start with. So far, I like the product a lot. The bands on it are nice and tight and keep everything held in place. The center is solid, maybe hard cardboard or something similar, so it stands right up in between the laptop and books I carry. If I add another item to it, the seemingly-random band placement helps to either find somewhere to put it or help to rearrange things to make room for the new item.. Everything seems to stay on it, even though I am moving my bag around lots during the day, putting things in and taking things out. I haven't knocked anything off the GRID-IT yet.

The only thing I would like better is if the back had more bands like the front. Instead, there is a small, zippered pocket. I guess that is handy if you have some small papers or cards, but so far, I haven't used it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great idea but it's not a case, April 2, 2011

I bought two sizes of these Grid-its (5x7 and 5x10) and they are indeed clever sturdy organizers. Maybe I'm a bit dense, but I had thought they were cases. They're not and so not quite what I had wanted for travel and hence the four stars. Instead, these are flat boards with rubberized elastic bands woven across one side. You can arrange small items within the grid in any configuration you like and they stay snugly in place. The one use I've found for them in my own way of doing things is within my briefcase. For class I always need the same five items (a laser pointer, a remote mouse and its usb plug, a clock/timer, and a thumb drive) and it's great to pull out the 5x10 Grid-it and have everything all together. There's even room for a tube of lip balm, a pen, and some post-it notes. So a good item, just a little different than I expected.

4.0 out of 5 stars love grid-its! could be more durable., January 31, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have two Grid-its of different sizes. They're great for organizing little things you would want transfer from bag to bag easily and for storing cables. I always have two USB cables with me to charge my phone and my mp3 player.

I think I've torn off one of the elastic bands on each of mine though. Don't try and stretch them too too much.

Sending the item back in for replacement through warranty didn't seem worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Have Gear, December 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Bought this as a gift and I now have serious "gift envy". The 10 x 5" is perfectly sized to hold a Droid X, iPod Nano, chargers, usb cables, SD cards, and memory sticks...and room to spare. She can put all her geek gear in her purse yet easily access it when needed without dumping the entire contents on the car seat just to find the charger. The "pink" is really mostly grey with pink accents put all her electronic gear is pink anyways, so it looks really great and girlie. Her gear is neatly organized, secured safely, and easily retrieved. It's really cool when she puts it on the dash of the car. Her gear is near by, contained and doesn't slide across the dash when cornering. Every gadget guy could use one (black please), all geek girls need one, and tech savvy ladies will appreciate one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Organization!, November 21, 2010

This review is from: Cocoon CPG5BK GRID-IT Organizer, 10.25 x 5.125 Inch, Black (Personal Computers)
I wanted the 10.25 x 3.125 inch Cocoon Grid-It from the first moment I saw it. When it arrived I found it to be as useful as I thought it would be! Not only to I have a place to keep all those small electronics in my bag, the Grid-It also gives support and structure to my rather floppy purse or messenger bag.

I can store my batteries, my emergency battery charger, my iPod & earbuds, a couple of barretts in the elastic grids, plus the tips for the emergency charger in the zipper compasrtment on the back. When I need one of these small items it's always right at hand.

I love the Cocoon Grid-It and will always have it in my purse or messenger bag.
