Is this album to your taste?, March 16, 2011

Richard Bennett is a wonderful guitar player. Played on most of the hits by Neil Young, Neil Diamond and Emmy Lou Harris, is a highly sought after Nashville session player and currently plays in the bands of both Mark Knofler and Vince Gill. Super, super player. This particular album explores Bennett's style of jazz guitar. He's a fine player and he plays it very well. Personally, I love his other two recent solo albums, "Themes from a Rainy Decade" and "Valley of the Sun." Those albums explore Bennett's appreciation and mastery of early, semi-forgotten American rock'n'roll guitar music styles. I would heartily recommend "Themes from a Rainy Decade" and "Valley of the Sun," unless you are a jazz guitar devotee. In that case, pick up a copy of "Code Red Cloud Nine."
