This game runs on the 'Jupiter EX' engine, so it looks and plays a lot like the FEAR series, with all of that game's strengths and weaknesses.

On the PLUS side:
Nice graphics. I certainly enjoyed the settings here a lot more than I did in FEAR. Here you get some time in various settings. The game is stable. Never crashed once on my aging XP system. Weapons look and sound good, and the feel is right. Good firefights, and good level design, given the game engine limitations. Overall it's quite a fun little shooter.

On the MINUS side:
This game is extremely short. Maybe three hours to finish it, tops. Though the environments are varied, there are not that many levels. And because it uses the FEAR game engine, you don't get much time outdoors, although the few outdoor areas are beautiful. All areas seem cramped, mostly due to the use of the Jupiter EX engine, which apparently has trouble rendering large outdoor areas.

OVERALL:
I enjoyed it. My main complaint is its short length. But if you enjoyed FEAR, and want more of that style gameplay, then this will suit you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great graphics, but too short!, December 15, 2008

I was fairly impressed with this game, mainly due to the cost vs. features ratio. For a <$20 game, it's pretty good! I mainly look for FPS games, which is why I tried this one.

The graphics are great, very smooth, and it'll run on just about any standard PC with a halfway decent graphics card. No problems at all during gameplay (loads fast, too!).

My biggest dissapointment was the length (or lack of length) of the game. Before I knew it, the game was over. I was expecting to play this game off and on over Christmas break, but three days after I bought it I was finished.

I had hoped to find another "Far Cry" (and yes, I did buy Far Cry 2, and yes, FC2 is a *big* disappointment in comparison to the original), so I'll keep searching.

I would recommend this game as a "trainer" for someone who has little or no experience with FPS's, but true gamers will be disappointed.

This 1st person shooter will keep you on your toes. It has great graphics and good game play. As far as action/fps games go, this is a really good one.

Game works and runs well, yay to the programmers. I just personally find the single player boring and dated. You move through a fairly narrow playing area, it's not an open world. You shoot bad guys along the way. You're a rat in small rooms & hallways - a rat with a gun. But, having said that, back in the 1990's this would have been a great game.

Very good game, even though ending was almost impossible to accomplish, head shots were necessary for immediate kills but a fun game.

I have noted before with software reviews that by the time that the software trickles down to late adapters like myself, they are obsolescent if not obsolete. This game has been passed by successors like a Yugo being passed on the Autobahn. It is OK on my old Dell platform, but I doubt that serious gamers would consider it at all anymore.

Not real imaginative and kind of a stupid plot, and the weapons are not modeled terribly accurately, but what the heck? For a few bucks you can get rid of 5 or 6 hours worth of angst, at least. It's definitely worth the price, and I'd recommend it as a generic 'B' list FPS.
