1.0 out of 5 stars Get-rich quick? Well..., June 10, 2005

I have a little bit more than 5 years of experience as an Internet Marketing Manager and didn't find this book very valuable.

It misleads readers into thinking that they can make a quick fortune online. I'm going to take an example to illustrate my point. The authors recommend to write e-books on a popular topic, create a one-page estore and position it in the search engines to draw traffic and make easy profits. The book makes it sounds easy and "magic". Simply follow the step-by-step instructions.

Well... It's not that easy.

What about the hard work required to optimize your website, get incoming links and study/follow search engines algorithm changes? (Not to mention how much time it first takes to learn about Search Engine Optimization, and how much time it takes to "Experiment").

As an alternative, you can use pay-per-click search engine advertising systems such as Google Adwords (http://adwords.google.com) to immediately get to the top of search engines, but it is not an easy game to play. Prices are very high and web users difficult to convert.

Again, it's not that easy, and it's going to take you a lot more than this book to be successfull selling online. I think this book is a typical "Get rich quick" type of book/offer, and very few readers will actually be able to ... get rich quick.

I have not been an Internet market for years. In fact, my background is with software development. I spent ten years in the software development industry, much of that time writing Internet-based software.

When I decided to launch my own online health and wellness business, I found out quickly that my skills and knowledge weren't enough. Marketing and sales on the Internet are completely different than writing good code. I fell into the old trap of "if I know it well and am passionate, they will come." I learned quickly, however, that I had to act, learn, and be a student of marketing to make this happen.

Why do I preface with this information? It's because I launched my company just last year. My site is now one of the top visited health and fitness sites and I've built a substantial list.

I opened this book with anticipation, and here is what I found.

First, I found validation of many of the techniques I've been using. Unfortunately, it took me months to discover them. Here they were, laid out perfectly for me, with several examples to boot. I would have loved to have these "missing links" earlier in my site, but as it was, I had to stumble upon them myself.

Second, I found many new "ah-hah" techniques that I hadn't thought of before. A few of these techniques I put into play immediately. Personally, I value educational books not by how thick or well-written they are, but by what I receive. And I received from this one. It manifested in my bottom line.

I consider this book to be a profitable investment. Many of these nuggets might be available on the Internet in various places, but to have them together in one volume is gold. I have received income by applying these techniques, and anyone interested in taking their business to the next level can too.

It's not "get rich quick," it's, "get rich smart ... by following in the footsteps of other successful entrepreneurs."

No solid information is given in this book. A vague idea is presented, and then the authors give a link to one of thier websites. It is almost as if they wrote this book to get more traffic to thier websites. Here is the plot of this book: Get a whole bunch of e-mails (they dont really tell you how) and then send them a bunch of e-mails promoting your product every couple days. Waste of time.

Spaming people is not a valuable "Secret" of e-commerce, it will only earn you angry ex-customers and bring ill-fame to your business partners. This book is nothing but Spam and sales pitches for Joe Vitales offerings, and his ill-famed partners products. We do not approve of his methods and we disagree with the proposed scams set forth in this book.

If something seems too good to be true, it usually is. That's the case with this book as well. It seems that all of these authors in this book are continualy trying to sell each others products. No real practical advice is given. They suggest making money by building a huge mailing list and selling products to the reciepient through emails. First of all, how do we build this magical list, and secondly, who enjoys receiving spam of any kind these days. Let's call a spade a spade. The only ones getting rich off this book are the authors.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother with this one..., May 7, 2006
This review is from: The E-Code: 33 Internet Superstars Reveal 43 Ways to Make Money Online Almost Instantly--Using Only E-Mail! (Paperback)
Stale, painfully obvious information from the so-called internet gurus. Full of "what-to-do" instead of the more useful "how-to-do" information. If you really must get this type of info, go to the authors' websites. It's just get rich on the internet by telling others how to get rich on the internet. For beginners in ecommerce, there's very little in the way of detailed step-by-step instructions. For people with more experience, there's nothing new here, just a compilation of articles with the author's website address at the end of each one where you can actually buy the information they're telling you about.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book, well worth the $$$$, July 21, 2005
This review is from: The E-Code: 33 Internet Superstars Reveal 43 Ways to Make Money Online Almost Instantly--Using Only E-Mail! (Paperback)
If you've ever thought about trying to make money on the internet, this is one of the first books you shoud buy.

Each chapter in this book was written by Internet Super Stars who've made a ton of money on the Internet. Many took different paths from each other and stil propered proving there is no "One and Only way" to make money, and lots of it, on the Internet.

I bet everyone who reads this has at least one good idea that he or she could make money with on the Internet. You'll find at least one profitable technique in this book to get your idea off the ground and into reality.

If you don't, then nothing else will help you.

I was a little disappointed that many of the websites noted in the book were dead. It just goes to show that even if you have a great idea and can make it blossom online, you still need some business sense to keep it going. However, there is still plenty websites named in this book that have tons of resources waiting to help you.

Making money online does not happen overnight. But then again, it doesn't take years either. And getting a 1 page site ranked doesn't take rocket science and a degree in Search Engine Optimization. Some of the techniques are shared with you in this book.

Good Luck

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!, March 23, 2006

As a website publisher I've read just about every book on the market. 99% gave me general information I could gather for free off the web. The remaining 1% were worth their weight in gold. This book falls in that category.

Written in short easy to read chapters I got a wealth of ideas to turn my online advertising into a results focused marketing action plan that will generate revenue. For example:

The six chapters (38-43) on affiliate marketing were an eye openener for me. I learned how to use these programs to generate revenue without having to store inventory or even own a product.

I learned how I could give away e books that I create and still make more money than if I had charged for it.

I learned why growing an "opt-in" mailing list was one of THE most important things I could do as a website publisher to guarantee a future income for myself.

Every chapter made sense. Gave clear instructions on what to do and how to do it.

I feel I got a bargain for the inexpensive price I paid. I am confident that applying just one of the many ideas in this book will more than cover the cost of the book. A great return on investment!

I suggest getting the book and putting into action what you'll learn. If you don't feel it's worth the price send it back. I think after you buy it you'll agree it's worth every penny.

I almost didn't order this book because of a negative review and I didn't want to waste time or money on rehashed information. I'm glad I gave it a try anyway! This book is the 5th I've bought recently in my quest for education on my new start up business - and, so far, the most helpful. It has specific actions, plans, websites, resources and lots of creative marketing ideas that have really helped me. The authors do discuss building opt-in e-mails lists for marketing, but they do NOT recommend SPAM in any way.
I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to improve their online business, or looking for information on how to start one.
