Do you constantly find yourself in unhealthy relationships? Do you have an unnatural and exaggerated fear of heights? Are you ever despondent for no particular reason? Do you sabotage your abundance time and again? Are you deathly afraid of getting lost? Or do you suffer from something different but nonetheless devastating?

This book, by noted psychologists Drs. George Pratt & Peter Lambrou (and coauthored by John David Mann), helps us dig deep into our subconscious in order to unlock the door to what's really holding us back.

In his foreword, famed talk-show host Larry King quotes coauthor Pratt:

"Whether it's an unresolved hurt, persistent low self-esteem, or vague sense of anxious unease, most of us struggle with some version of what we call the fog of distress. It clouds our lives, interfering with our relationships, our careers, even our health. And no matter how many hours you spend on the couch, talking it through just doesn't always do it."

"Why not?" asks King.

Pratt explains, "Because there's typically a disconnect between what we logically know about ourselves and the place in the brain where our emotions live. Sometimes you just can't get there from here. You have to find alternative ways to get that information to click."

Although Dr's Pratt and Lambrou support the concepts in this book with valid references to neuro-science; don't look for this book to be a technical, scientific reference book, rather it's written for the general public and reads as an engaging story until you get to the 4-step process. Being a therapist who also uses Energy Psychology processes, I was primarily looking for the Four Step Process that they put forth in the book. However, I found the first part of the book so engaging that I read it anyway. Although the book has a great deal of scientific information, you don't have to "read it with your teeth." I will definitely recommend it to my clients.

"I had Drs. Pratt and Lambrou's previous book on acupressure for the emotions, and have integrated several of their methods into my counseling work, so I was curious to see if this book would have anything new. After reading a 'sneak peek' at the forward and introduction at their [...] website, I decided to order it and take a look. I was pleasantly surprised. Where their previous book dealt primarily with emotional relief, this book digs deeper to the core beliefs that often drive emotional overloads and create what they call a 'fog of distress'. I love the term "fog of distress," it's so vivid and clear (no pun intended). Being a grief therapist, working on a soon to be released book integrating Mind/Body approaches with grief work, (Turn Your Frown Upside Down), I found this phrase a perfect description of what I call an accumulation of unreconciled mini-grief experiences. I'm not sure fog of distress is what my clients would call their inability to sustain joy or happiness in their lives, but it's the label Pratt and Lambrou use and as a metaphor it works.

Now, I'm a spiritual person but I'm also a bit skeptical about some of the claims people make about anything remotely metaphysical. Nevertheless, I went into reading this book with an open mind and I'm glad I did because it changed my life. The funny thing about this is that you don't have to believe in it in order to give it a whirl and try it; it'll still work anyway. If you follow the steps exactly, you will notice some changes. At first, you might pass them off as just a coincidence or find some other "logical" reason why it is working for you but sooner or later, you'll have to admit, like I did, that the reason is because of The Code to Joy.

So if you're mildly curious about this book and you want to try it, even if it's just to disprove them, I say try it. You might be surprised, like I was, that the techniques actually work to help clear up past issues.

If you've heard or read that we are all created to have happiness and joy in our lives, but you're wondering why you aren't happier and more joyful, this book is for you.
Co-author, John David Mann, has made it pleasantly readable - not just another psychological self-help textbook. Drs. Pratt and Lambrou have created a brilliant formula for tapping into our highest potential. They've gone beyond the mind, body, spirit connection - a "biofield" at the cellular and energetic level.
Happiness and joy are emotions, and emotions live deep in our subconscious. If you faithfully follow the exercises in this book, you could make some highly positive changes in your life.
Code to Joy will help you find your best happiness and joy, more success in your endeavors, and all with a smile on your face. it's a truly good read, and can be immensely rewarding.
