Bring on more SEALS!,

This review is from: Code Name: Bikini (Mass Market Paperback)
Lieutenant Trace O'Halloran is part of the secret elite Foxfire team. He has Foxfire technology chips implanted that allow him to be a little more than simply human. He is excelled at psi sweeps, spreading energy nets and reading detailed changes made by anything alive in the area. But after being seriously wounded during his last mission, his chips were deactivated and would remain dormant until he is once again full healed, mentally and physically. Trace is close to full recovery when he is assigned to act as a back up guard for a special package. The package is to be dropped off in Puerto Vallarta. For the next ten days Trace will be spending time on a deluxe cruise ship, doing anything but relaxing. There is one good thing about the cruise though; the pastry chef he met previously on land happens to be part of the ship's crew. Interesting possibilities there.
Gina Ryan is the head pastry chef for a cruise ship. The good news is that she may be getting a television show about making pastries. The bad news is that Gina is losing her eye sight. Within the next several months, she will become blind. Tobias Hale is the only one who knows about her eyes. Tobias is Chief of Security. Gina has more good news; Carly McKay is on board with her family. (Carly and Ford's tale is in the book titled "Going Overboard".) After ten years, it will be great to see her again. And, you guessed it, Gina has more bad news. Blaine is the head of beverage services and is gunning for Gina out of pure jealousness. All of this is more than enough for any one woman to deal with, but when Trace appears on board, Gina knows things will either get much better or all fall apart. ***** A couple of new characters appear in this SEALs installment. I fully expect to see them receive stories in the future. If not, they may at least serve as major secondary characters in the future. Some main characters from previous books appear, as secondary characters, in this novel as well. For those of us who have read the previous titles, it is great to get a glimpse and see how some past main players are doing. Yet none of this diverts from the serious plot or the romance blossoming between Trace and Gina. All the characters are very well developed and the author gives more of Izzy's background. As usual, Skye adds some startling surprises and a few twists that kept me reading late into the night. Excellent book for when you have long hours to devote toward reading. This is not a book that is easily put down. Fantastic! ***** Reviewed by Detra Fitch of Huntress Reviews.

A Murderous Cruise,
This review is from: Code Name: Bikini (Mass Market Paperback)
Gina Ryan is the pastry chef for a cruise line. She's also losing her sight and keeping secrets. Trace O'Halloran is a Navy SEAL. He is on the cruise ship for some R&R because he died on his last mission. It's taken him several months to get back to semi-normal after all the surgeries and rehabilitation. Oh, and he is on an undercover operation to ensure the delivery of some very important materials. Mix in an ex-Navy SEAL, his photographer wife and their identical triplet girls. Add an old team-mate and now enemy. Add a vengeful crew member. Shake well and you have a mystery and a romance that will keep you up reading until late at night. I like Skye's gimmick of bringing in people from previous novels. If you've read the novels, you're happy to meet old friends, if you haven't, it doesn't change your perception of the novel you're reading

I am not sure why, but I could not get connected to the book. This is one I stopped reading half way with a lot of skipping pages. Whatever about the style of writing, I just had no interest in finding out the end

Gina Ryan, cruise ship pastry chef extraordinaire is following her dream. Though she has a secret health issue she has traded in her gun and police badge to create gorgeous desserts aboard a cruise line. She has a fantastic staff and a solid group of friends. Too bad there seems to be a little feud with the plastic woman in charge of beverages. But Gina knows it is nothing she can't handle. What she seems to not be able to handle is the super hot passenger.
Trace is on board the ship as an undercover assignment, not one that this SEAL is used to either. He is supposed to relax, but how can he with the spunky Gina on the same ship? But, when things start to get out of hand not only with his mission and his attraction to Gina will the two be able to get together and defeat the bad guys. More importantly will they figure out how they can continue their relationship? I found Code Name: Bikini to be an intriguing action packed adventure. I thoroughly loved how Ms. Skye had Gina and Trace play off each other as they continued to be thrown together. I think after you read this story that you will find there was a lot more than baking going on with this pastry chef and SEAL. Not only that but it makes for fun interactions. I found the suspense to be well written and it did take me a while to figure out how it all fit together, which for me is a compliment and keeps me intrigued. I also enjoyed the romance and the well written sexual scenes. I enjoyed Code Name: Bikini and think you will also. Tanya Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

fast-paced Codename romantic suspense thriller,
This review is from: Code Name: Bikini (Mass Market Paperback)
US Navy Foxfire specialist Lieutenant Trace O'Halloran has chips implanted inside him that enables him to be more than he could have been otherwise. The chips allow him to scan anything breathing with the scope of his psionic net.
However, on his last mission he was severely injured and his chips turned off with the understanding they will be reactivated once he heals. Feeling ready to return to the job, albeit without the use of his chips, Trace is assigned backup duty guarding a package heading to Puerto Vallarta, but he knows it is a gimmick to get him on R&R. For ten days Trace is to relax on the cruise ship, but he cannot stay calm as he feels that is inappropriate even for a backup and besides which he is attracted to pastry chef Gina Ryan whom he met on dry land. However, someone on board wants her dead although no motive seems to surface and only Trace can keep her safe, but she wonders about the cost to her heart. Fans of Christina Skye will feel that the cruise is a homecoming as Carly McKay nee Sullivan of GOING OVERBOARD is on the ship (nice touch). The latest Codename romantic suspense thriller is fast-paced and filled with plenty of action with the irony being that the audience knows who wants to kill Gina and why. Adding angst to the tale is that Gina is going blind even as she has obtained a TV show (some readers might feel that subplot is going overboard to gain unnecessary empathy towards the lead female) although the enigmatic Izzy sees opportunity. Fans of the ongoing SEAL series will appreciate this terrific entry. Harriet Klausner

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Christina Skye does it again, all of her "Code Name" books are great, and I would recommend them to anyone, they make you laugh, cry, get angry, and best of all they make you think.
She takes you to a world that you would not normally visit, and lets you enjoy vicariously some thrills and chills, as well as the more erotic side of life. A great book (series) to sink into, and get away from every day life.

The storyline is great, but loose ends...,

This review is from: Code Name: Bikini (Mass Market Paperback)
I liked the hero and heroine. The navy SEAL is a stud of course. The men in this book get hit on a lot. The heroine is also likeable, being a pastry chef. The plot line is interesting.
There are lots of loose ends and bits and pieces that end up going no where. For example, I thought the 'ghost' has something to do with the current case, but she doesn't. I also wonder what happens to the heroine's eye. I wonder why one of her employees turned. The ending was a bit disappointing since it wasn't entirely clear how they will be able to live together, what with his almost prison like career. |
