Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Miki Fortune is willing to travel to the ends of the earth to be successful as a photographer. When she ends up on a remote island after a plane wreck, she is rescued and taken captive by mysterious Max Preston, who is part of the paranormally enhanced Navy SEAL unit encountered in Code Name: Baby (2005). Max is convinced the only reason the blond beauty ended up on that specific island is because she is working for the superenhanced villain Cruz. Max's partner, a Labrador retriever named Truman that has abilities far exceeding those of most dogs, plays an important role. An impending hurricane keeps the suspense rising as the action paves the way for a showdown with Cruz, who may actually have different motives than those attributed to him. Skye is terrific at writing fast-paced adventure romances, and even though this tale stands on its own, it is also a tantalizing addition to the compelling Code Name series. Diana Tixier Herald

2.0 out of 5 stars Way out wacky lust festival, July 13, 2006
Miki, a free-spirited landscape photographer, having lived the life of irresponsibility, decides to buckle down and do some real work, when a twist of fate sends her plane crashing into the ocean. Her rescuer, Max Preston, is a bio-engineered super-soldier (and a hunk).

The romantic conflict comes from the fact that Max doesn't trust Miki and won't tell anything about what he's doing there. He basically makes her his prisoner, and she keeps trying to escape. Complete with superheroes, super-villains, a super-dog with powers like the lady of Avalon, and light-hearted energetic sex, the story would seem to have definite potential to entertain its readers.

Yet while I generally like an escape from reality, some things were rather too far-fetched, as the narrator tried to chalk one magical ability after another to super-secret scientific advancements. The romance was on the far side of unbelievable, and very shallow, happening as it did between two shallow and stereotypical characters.

At least the book managed to be entertaining at times, but I personally couldn't relate to either of the romantic leads. If this is the sort of story you like however, I recommend you look at Deidre Knight's book "Parallel Attraction" - similar characters, but much more satisfying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes! Finally!, May 23, 2006

(REAL NAME)
I got hooked onto Christina Skye's Codename series by a co-worker (Thank you Kathy!) and absolutely love them. I love how she puts in the animals, especially the dogs, the navy seals, government etc. This was a super treat. I saw it in a store and grabbed it up. Finally a sequel to Codename Baby! And the more I read Blondie, the more I was feeling sorry for Cruz. The more you read the more you start to think that maybe he's right and the government group he was with are the corrupt ones. I know he isn't a saint by any means. But I am hopeing that he isn't killed off. Reminds me of those anti-heros, the ones you think are the enemies but really they are fighting against a hidden foe. This book was finished in less than 2 hours and had me drooling for the next Skye Codename book. Definitely read Codename Baby and Codename Blondie to get the full WOW effect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Code Name: Blondie - from New Mexico, May 10, 2006
"Code Name: Blondie" was a fast and exciting read. I loved the bio-enhancements endowed upon the hunky Navy Seal and his dog, Truman. Although the hero's enhancements allowed him to "read" a person by touching them, he still anguished over the motives of Miki, the heroine. This made him sympathetic in spite of his superhero qualities. Very clever! And Miki - the heroine who knits when she's nervous - was a kick.
