This author is not one to miss!,

This review is from: Code Name: Nanny (Mass Market Paperback)
Summer Mulcahey learned to trust no one but herself at a young age. Her "take no prisoners" attitude led her to a career in the FBI. Her current assignment was to protect Sophy and Audra O'Connor, the children of Cara O'Connor who is the youngest ever female Assistant DA in San Francisco. Cara is dealing with a high profile case involving Richard Costello, big time bad guy. While Costello is trying for an appeal, someone is sending threats (in several different ways) to Cara. Fearing for her daughters, Summer is put on the job. The problem is Summer's cover. She is to be the girls' nanny! Summer knows nothing about raising children, and less than nothing about ballet lessons and teenage troubles. The older daughter is dealing with normal fifteen-year-old crisis problems and the younger daughter has special talents no one knows of. Then there is Gabe, the guy who handles landscaping and general contracting. There is just something different about him. For a "gardner" he is just too efficient. Gabe Morgan is actually Navy SEAL. Senator Tate Winslow is soon to marry Cara O'Connor. Tate knows something is wrong, but Cara insists it is nothing. Tate asks a personal favor of Gabe, who is recovering from knee trouble. Gabe is mainly to secure the O'Connor home and grounds, but to also keep an eye on the people that reside within. But the new nanny is unlike anyone Gabe has ever met and Audra is just full of pranks. Costello's reach is long, even from a prison cell. Summer and Gabe must team up to keep the O'Connor family safe. Ishmael "Izzy" Teague is called in by Gabe for his hacking and computer skills. But even with all three of them on the job, the O'Connor family is in trouble. (...)Gabe is not the only one recovering from an on-the-job wound. Summer has major physical scars that she just has not found the time to deal with. They cause some tense moments in the novel. As for the two little girls, they often stole the show, especially younger Sophy. I sincerely hope an adult version of Sophy will someday have her own story. There is lots of potential items to work with in that character. As always, Skye's talent clearly shows in the story. Every character has his or her own quirks. Romances are built up at a great pace, just as the action and suspense are. This author is not one to be missed!(...)

THIS BOOK WAS GREAT,
By A Customer
This review is from: Code Name: Nanny (Mass Market Paperback)
I don't see what some other reviewers said. This book was a fast read and very hot. The FBI agent was a different touch, and the kids were funny. I think having two sets of lovers in the book was a great touch. Add in Izzy......and what more could you want! I can't wait for the sister's story.

Missed the excitement,

I normally love Christina Skye's books, especially when they are about Navy SEALS. However, this book can be summed up in one word - boring! It's extremely repetitive, right down to constantly telling the reader what the two main characters do for a living. We're reading the book, good chance we know from the beginning! I honestly couldn't finish it. I was so disappointed. I felt as though the publisher gave Christina a deadline and she just threw something together. In all fairness, I couldn't write even a bit of what she did, so I shouldn't complain. Stick with her previous novels and hope that the book featuring Izzy, if ever there is one, is as delightful as her books before Code Name: Nanny.

Excellent Read!,

I read this book in two days...I just couldn't put it down. This was my first Christina Skye book and after I finished it, I went and got several of her other books. This is by far my favorite one though. Summer and Gabe are a splendid couple with their own little quirks and complications. Gabe, the hard Navy Seal, and Summer, the cold FBI agent, make an interesting match. I never really enjoyed books with combat talk and situations, but this one just reeled me in. From Gabe and Summer's first steamy encounter all the way to the shocking ending, I was riveted. And who could forget the ever-lovable Izzy? Try this book out as it is sure to be a winner! And don't forget to check out Skye's other books as well, as they are just as good!

Code name: Dragging,
By Claire "Night Rose" (Malta) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Code Name: Nanny (Mass Market Paperback)
I feel like a traitor writing a bad review for a Christina Skye book. Ever since I first read "The black Rose" years ago I have been an avid fan of ms Skye -enjoying most of books. Her historical romances were terrific (too bad she is not writing them anymore) and her Draycott Series was also great.
Lately however Ms Skye keeps offering us "Navy SEAL" stories. And you may ask -so what is bad about this? Nothing at all. In fact I enjoyed quite a lot her first SEAL book (I think it was Going Overboard) I also read all the following ones (My Spy, Hot Pursuit, Code Name: Princess and this one)and I realized that they all follow the same formula and believe me...after a while this DOES get dragging! I'm quite tired now of reading about heroes who are typical Big Jim look alikes (never described very well btw -we just know they have dark hair and either blue or grey eyes and fantastic physiques) who are always the strong silent type, and all with terrible past scars and present injuries which they are trying to take care of (and hide from everyone else, in a strong manly fashion) not to mention that they are always perfect - and can do ANYTHING! At least, the female protagonists of The "SEALS" series tend to differ from one book to another. (always tough and feisty however and I have to admit I do not find them always likable) But ultimately its the heroes whom I barely cannot stand anymore! THE STORY: What is worse in this book is that we have 2 different romances going on. The one between the (supposedly) main characters -Summer and Gabe, and the one between Cara and Tate (Secondary characters whose romance gets more attention than the primary ones in this book) We have Summer who is an FBI agent and who has to pose as an undercover nanny for Cara's children because she (Cara) has received some threats. Then we have Gabe (who is recuperating from "devastating" injuries and still suffers some knee trouble) who agrees to do a favour for a friend (Tate) and agrees to protect Cara and her children (also undercover). Now if you have read any "SEAL" books by Christina Skye I'm pretty sure you will be able to conjure the rest of the story. Suffice to say have to deal with some past scars, dangerous moments a separation and a long coming reunion) This book is way to long and dragging. (417 pgs )and the ending is REALLY dragging and by the time I got to the end of the book I had lost all interest and skimmed through the last 57 pages of the "epilogue" My final and personal plee to Ms Sky is to please try to think about a totally new story line now (enough with wounded SEALS and army/navy men)I guess after 5 books and another one coming one should try to think about some novel ideas. Probably I will still buy Code Name:Baby (even though I have an awful suspicion it will be again of the same formula) but I will only do it because I still have faith in Mys Sky's resources.

Not her best work. Missing a love connection,
By Julie Waite (Pennsylvania) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Code Name: Nanny (Mass Market Paperback)
I love Christina Skye, but this book was not her best work. I didn't feel a connection between the two main characters and then all of a sudden they were in love. There were too many subplots that took the focus off Summer and Gabe which made it difficult for a reader to become invested in these two. She just needed to spend a little more time developing their relationship.

Come on, Christina...,
By "orlandobookgirl" (Orlando, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Code Name: Nanny (Mass Market Paperback)
I love Christina Skye. I own every single book she has published and I have reread them countless times to much amusement and sighs. However, this one just doesn't do it for me. The story starts off rather interesting, the heroine catching the very sexy hero as he is in the shower and beautifully naked. Some heat is built between them and I got very excited about what was to come (no pun intended) between them in later chapters. But it was almost as if Ms Skye couldn't hold on to the heat that she had suddenly built in that one scene, because it is dropped immediately and the chemistry between them just isn't picked up again. It...isn't...picked...up...again. In fact, she moves on and builds up a pretty sexy relationship with two other people in the book who are supposed to be side characters but really take center stage throughout the entire novel. I'm a romance fan to the very core of my being, but I just wasn't feeling any sparks between the two I wanted to read about. They were the two that I picked the book up for, the two whose story I wanted to read, the two that the back of the book claimed that I would be reading a romance about. Not exactly true. There are only four books I've read in my long years as a romance fan, that I honestly didn't care once the sex scene came along. This one is number four. Sex scene came, I went "eh" and skimmed through it. I didn't even care how it ended. It bothered me so much that I couldn't get through this book, that I had a friend of mine (another avid Christina fan) read the book, and she couldn't get through it either. I will still read Christina's books passionately, but she has lost her edge on this one. What a disappointment!

A Rocking Good Time,
By Carol (Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Code Name: Nanny (Mass Market Paperback)
This was better than Code name:Princess. I realize I should have read this first, but I dont follow this author as much. It was a really good time. Fast read, pretty good mystery, altho I got the bad "guy" right away. However, Tate and Cara were idealistic leads but Gabe and Summer got most of my attention.
Good action novel, great romance. Nice read. |
